Cada Loses Chunk to Soma After Tanking

Nível 30 : 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Joe Cada
Joe Cada

Joe Cada raised to 325,000 from the button for Leo Soma to defend his big blind.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{a-Hearts}, Soma checked, Cada continued with a bet of 275,000. Soma responded with a raise to 850,000. Cada considered it for a bit and then made the call.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and Soma barreled a bet of 2,250,000 over the line. Cada thought about it for a while and then made another call.

The river completed the board with the {5-Spades} and Soma fired a stack of chips into the pot, worth, 2,500,000.

"Sickest river!" Cada commented.

Cada tanked for almost two minutes, he looked at his cards once more, cut out calling chips, looked at the remainder of the stack.

"Sorry," he muttered but Ryan Jones said it was okay.

In the end, Cada folded.

"Show the bluff!" Soma's rail chanted and he showed the {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for the pair of sevens.

"I had a nine," Cada shrugged.

Leonard August Eliminated in 9th Place ($46,496)

Nível 30 : 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Leonard August
Leonard August

Leonard August raised to 450,000 from the small blind after action had been folded to him. Thomas Schultz, the big blind, made the call.

August fired for 400,000 on the {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop. Schultz raised him to 1,000,000. After a moment to gather his thoughts, August announced that he was all in. Schultz, with August just slightly covered, made the call.

Leonard August: {7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Thomas Schultz: {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Schultz had flopped trips, but August had plenty of outs with his flush draw. Those outs never came, however, as the board finished {q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, securing the pot for Schultz.

Leonard August was sent to the rail in 9th place, for which he'll take home a cash of $46,496.

Ronit Chamani Eliminated in 11th Place ($35,785); Javier Garcirreynaldos Eliminated in 10th Place ($35,785)

Ronit Chamani
Ronit Chamani

Ronit Chamani in the hijack position pushed all in for around 500,000 and Javier Garcirreynaldos in the cutoff went all in for 1,500,000. Leo Soma on the button had them both covered and called:

Ronit Chamani: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Javier Garcirreynaldos: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Leo Soma: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, giving Soma top pair with a king kicker and sending both Chamani and Garcirreynaldos out of the tournament right before the first break of the day.

Corey Dodd Eliminated in 12th Place ($27,858)

Nível 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Corey Dodd
Corey Dodd

Action was picked up as the dealer was clearing the table, but Leo Soma was kind enough to provide a recap.

Corey Dodd had just 14 big blinds left, when Soma raised the blind to force Dodd to move all in or fold. Dodd made the call.

Corey Dodd: {a-}{7-}
Leo Soma: {q-}{8-}

Both players' hands were suited, but this proved inconsequential. The board ran out {k-}{k-}{7-}{8-}{2-}, giving Soma a pair of eights, just enough to beat Dodd's pair of sevens.

Dodd was sent to the rail in 12th place, for which he'll take home a cash of $27,858.

Mustapha Kanit: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Joe Cada: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, and spiking an eight on the river gave Cada two pair and Kanit exited the tournament in 13th place.

Tianyi Mu
Tianyi Mu

Tianyi Mu, from the small blind, raised to 575,000. Leo Soma, on the button, made the call. The two were heads-up to the flop.

The {6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop was checked through before Mu fired for another 450,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn. Soma made the call.

After the {q-Hearts} river, Mu moved all in, with the effective stack of about 855,000. Soma took his time making his decision.

"At 32 minutes left I'm gonna call the clock on you," Ryan Jones informed Soma after a few minutes without action, giving him roughly a 90 second warning before the clock would be called. Before that point was reached, Soma made the call.

Tianyi Mu: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Leo Soma: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Soma's pair of aces were good enough to scoop the pot, and eliminate Mu. For being sent to the rail in 14th place, Tianyi Mu will take home a cash of $27,858.

Anson Tsang: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Ronit Chamani: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Chamani, already ahead, improved to a set on the {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop. The board finished out {2-Spades}{a-Spades}, pairing Tsang's ace, but it was not enough to beat Chamani's set.

Anson Tsang was sent to the rail in 15th place. He'll take home a cash of $27,858.

Event #14: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 WSOP at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas will conclude today on Day 3.

After the field of 2,393 was whittled down to just 159 players for Day 2, only 16 of those survived the second day. The field of 16 remaining players will return to play at noon local time.

Play will continue down to a winner today. Levels will be 60 minutes long, with a 15-minute break after every second level. The time and duration of the dinner break are to be determined.

The final player standing today will take home a WSOP bracelet and the first place payout of $456,889. All remaining players are guaranteed to take home a minimum payout of $27,858.

Daniel Wellborn will enter the day as the chip leader, with 8,805,000. He is followed by Leonard August (5,800,000), Joe Cada (5,645,000), Maximilano Gallardo (5,615,000), and Thomas Schultz (5,550,000) rounding out the top five.

While Anson Tsang and 2009 Main Event Champion Joe Cada are looking to earn their second and fifth WSOP bracelets respectively, a win for anyone else in the field would mean their first WSOP bracelet.
