Berkey Loses to a Flush; Still Moving Up

Nível 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With 65,000 in the pot and {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}{k-Spades} on the board, the big blind checked and Matt Berkey bet 35,000 from middle position. The big blind called and the river was {2-Hearts}.

Both players checked and Berkey turned over {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for three eights, but his opponent tabled {j-Spades}{9-Spades} to take the pot with a flush.

Zhou Spikes a Seven to Stay Alive

Nível 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Jimmy Zhou was all-in for 21,000 against Ehsan Amiri, who has one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Jimmy Zhou: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Ehsan Amiri: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop and turn came {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs}, giving Zhou just two outs with his pocket sevens. The table erupted when the river brought the {7-Hearts} to keep Zhou's bracelet dreams alive.

"I wasn't expecting that," someone at the table said.

Colillas Continues to Build

Nível 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Ramon Colillas was heads-up from early position against a lone player in the big blind on a {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop. The big blind checked to Colillas, who bet 6,000. His opponent then check-raised to 17,000 and Colillas called.

The {k-Diamonds} fell on the turn and the big blind checked — promoting a 12,000 bet from Colillas. His opponent folded after tanking for a bit and Colillas added to his stack.

Smiljkovic Caught Bluffing; Left With Fumes

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Daniel Smiljkovic was caught betting the {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} river out of the blinds and was called by Tatsuya Seki. Smiljkovic briefly flashed his cards for what appeared to be {a-}{3-} but Seki won the pot with the {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}. In the next hand, Seki and Smiljkovic saw a {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop and Seki bet the {j-Spades} turn for 5,500, which saw Smiljkovic check-fold out of the big blind.

The same table also features Kitty Kuo, who has a nearly identical stack as Seki.

Moneymaker Busts Kuhn and Breaks a Million

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

With about 200,000 in the pot and a board of {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Chris Moneymaker bet 115,000 in the small blind and Robert Kuhn was in middle position contemplating his decision. He eventually called.

The {q-Hearts} completed the board and Moneymaker slid out a stack of green chips, enough to put Kuhn all-in for his remaining stack of roughly 180,000. Kuhn tanked for several minutes and faced the additional pressure of multiple television cameras waiting on his action. He appeared to even shake his head and chuckle at times. Ultimately, he put in the chips.

"Two pair," Moneymaker said as he turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Kuhn could only show {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and took his exit from the table.

"I wanted to slow roll the sh-- out of him but I can't do that in the main event," Moneymaker said after mentioning they joked earlier about slow rolling each other. Moneymaker also remarked that they have a lot of history playing together that could've influenced Kuhn's decision.

At the end of it, Kuhn was sent to the rail, and the 2003 Main Event champion now sits as one of the top players on the leaderboard with a comfy stack of over one million.
