Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

With {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the felt, Brooks Floyd checked out of the big blind. Sam Greenwood bet 22,000, right about the size of the pot. Defending Champ Doubles

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
John Cynn
John Cynn

Defending champion John Cynn was overheard talking to another person presumably about his stack of just north of 20,000, saying that it was in his wheelhouse and that he was in his comfort zone.

He saw action fold to him in middle position and dictated, "watch this!" before reaching for chips. The energy was palpable as the table anticipated an all-in shove until he threw forward chips to open to 3,500.

"Wait, what?" Cynn commentated on his own action. "Just a raise?"

Action then folded to the big blind, who defended to take subsequent action to the streets. The flop came {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and the big blind checked. Cynn made a continuation-bet of 5,500 and the big blind looked back at Cynn and asked if he had any green, T$25,000 chips. Cynn confirmed he did not and his opponent put in a raise large enough to put Cynn all in.

Cynn happily complied, putting the rest of his chips in and turning over {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for an overpair.

His opponent tabled {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and found himself well behind with top pair.

The turn and river fell {6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, securing the double up for Cynn who now finds himself with some breathing room despite still being below starting stack.

"Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!"

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

It must have been one hell of a dinner break for Murray Chick who has soared over 400,000 in just two hands after the resumption of play following the dinner break.

"Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!" came the cry from Chick seated in the Pavilion after sending two players to the rail in back-to-back hands.

According to Chick, he called an all in with {a-}{7-} suited against an opponent's pocket nines, and after two sevens came he sent him on his way on the very first hand after dinner.

Then, a player moved all in for 21,000 and Chick called in the big blind.

Murray Chick: {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop gave the all-in player top set, but the {q-Hearts} turn improved Chick to a straight. The river bricked and his opponent became the second elimination at the hands of Chick in two hands.

"Sometimes you've got to take a stand," said Chick stacking his chips.

"I'll just have to get in with the worst hand against you," said another player at the table.

The Rise of Peters

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

David Peters was playing from the big blind with the flop down {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Peters checked after seeing the player in the small blind check, and the {5-Spades} hit the turn.

The action repeated before the {j-Diamonds} fell on the river, which led to a 1,600 bet from the small blind player.

Peters quickly called and saw his opponent flip over {a-Spades}{4-Clubs} for two pair. Not to be outdone, Peters revealed {5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for the higher two pair and won the pot.

Peters added the chips to his stack and is now playing 235,000, having been down to 18,000 three hours ago.

Mercier Hits Straight on River

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

There was around 8,000 in the pot in what appeared to be a single-raised pot where Jason Mercier opened from the hijack and got a call from the big blind. The flop was out reading {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Mercier made a continuation-bet of 4,100. The player in the big blind check-raised to 9,500 and action was back on Mercier, who called.

The turn came {6-Spades} and after check-raising, the big blind slowed down and checked again. Mercier announced a bet of 11,000 and his opponent called.

The river fell {5-Spades} and the big blind checked. Mercier thought for a few moments, realigning the chips he was shuffling in order to assess his stack size. Eventually, he knocked a closed fist down onto the table to check behind and take the hand to showdown.

"Ace-high," his opponent said after Mercier checked.

"It's no good," Mercier responded, tabling {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a rivered straight, good to take down the pot and put him to the 100,000-chip mark.
