Keith Tilston Leads Final Six in Event #83: $100,000 High Roller

Nível 23 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Keith Tilston
Keith Tilston

Keith Tilston was staring down the barrel of a short stack heading into the final day of Event #83: $100,000 High Roller after getting in kings against the aces of Sergi Reixach in the last hand of Day 2.

However, a king on the turn - followed by another on the river - saw him come from behind and eliminate his opponent to bag the chip lead with six left in the biggest buy-in event of the summer.

Tilston is coming off the back of a sixth-place finish in the Final Fifty for $275,874 but has already guaranteed himself $457,772 for a sixth-place finish in this event! However, with an eye-watering $2,792,406 awaiting the winner he may be in line for a whole lot more!

Play resumes on July 13th at 12 p.m. with 15 minutes left at 125,000/250,000/250,000 and will be live-streamed on PokerGO.

Day 2 Recap

After six players jumped in at the start of the day, including Main Event 40th place finisher Alex Foxen, that brought the total number of entrants to 99 with 56 seated at the start of Day 2.

It didn't take much time for players to start filtering out towards the exits, with short stacks Brian Rast and Jake Schindler exiting before a double elimination boosted Byron Kaverman as early as the second level of the day, with Adrian Mateos and Mike Lim being sent on their way.

Defending championn Nick Petrangelo was also eliminated before play was down to three tables with Igor Kurganov in the lead. The money bubble was at 15, so the pace slowed by the time the tournament reached two tables. Kurganov still lead and boosted his stack to around 25% of the chips in play.

Thomas Boivin was eliminated on the bubble after getting ace-queen in against ace-king of Kurganov and the remaining 15 players were guaranteed $156,316.

Steven Miranda and Jeremy Ausmus were eliminated before Tilston doubled through Kurganov to trim his chip lead. Sam Grafton lost a flip with jacks to bust to Brandon Adams who held ace-king, before Monster Stack champion Kainalu McCue-Unciano exited in 12th place.

Kainalu McCue-Unciano

He got it in with king-queen against the jacks of Nick Schulman, with the fellow 2019 bracelet winner's pocket pair holding. McCue-Unciano added $195,862 to the $1,008,850 he won just over two weeks ago.

Kurganov still lead on dinner break, just five eliminations away from the end of the day. When they returned, Steffen Sontheimer and Danny Tang hit the rail in quick succession to bring play down to a table of nine.

With Kurganov still in the lead, James Chen was eliminated in ninth before Tilston doubled through Kurganov again to reign in his chip lead. And although Adams and Schulman both moved into the chip lead briefly, the latter after sending Christoph Vogelsang to the rail, it was Tilston who grabbed it in the very last hand of the night after eliminating Sergi Reixach.

The final six players will return for a streamed final table from 12 p.m. on July 13th. PokerNews will bring you every hand of the action when play resumes!

Sergi Reixach Eliminated in 7th Place ($353,202)

Sergi Reixach

Hand #20: Brandon Adams opened to 600,000 and Keith Tilston defended his button. Adams bet 800,000 and Tilston folded.

Hand #21: Igor Kurganov opened to 530,000. Keith Tilston three-bet to 1,600,000. Sergi Reixach four-bet all in for 5,800,000. Kurganov folded and Tilston snap-called.

Sergi Reixach: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Keith Tilston: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The flop came {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} giving Tilston a flush draw, but the {k-Diamonds} on the turn gave him the lead either way. The {k-Spades} river gave him quads and sent Reixach to the rail.

Hand #19: The action folded around to Christoph Vogelsang on the button who shoved all in for around 2,400,000. Nick Schulman was in the big blind and didn't even need a count in order to make the call.

Nick Schulman: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Christoph Vogelsang: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The flop fell {7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Schulman was still out front with his pocket eights. The {2-Clubs} on the turn left Vogelsang drawing to six outs and the {5-Spades} on the river was not one of them.

James Chen

James Chen pushed all in for his seven big blind stack of 1,360,000 in middle position. Brandon Adams asked for a count on the button and then made the call to put Chen at risk.

Brandon Adams: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
James Chen: {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Chen needed some help in order to stay alive but the {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop was not looking promising. The {3-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing and the {a-Hearts} on the river sealed the deal as Chen busted out in ninth place.

Steffen Sontheimer slid out a raise to 650,000 on the button, leaving himself with around 100,000 behind. Nick Schulman shoved all in from the big blind and Sontheimer called off his stack.

Nick Schulman: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Steffen Sontheimer: {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Sontheimer was disappointed to see that he was dominated but the {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} gave him a straight draw. However, the {4-Clubs} and {3-Hearts} runout did him no favors and he was eliminated in 11th place.

Kainalu McCue-Unciano raised it up from the hijack and Nick Schulman three-bet shoved, putting McCue-Unciano to the test for his stack of around 2,600,000. McCue-Unciano called it off and the cards were tabled.

Nick Schulman: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Kainalu McCue-Unciano: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

It was a coin flip to start but Schulman held on to the lead after the flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. The {a-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing and neither did the {a-Diamonds} on the river. McCue-Unciano was eliminated in 12th place but will still take home his second largest score of nearly $200,000.
