Welcome to Day 1 of Event #53: $800 Eight Handed No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack

Today features the start of another new event added to the 2019 World Series Of Poker, Event #53: $800 Eight Handed No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack. Players will take their seats in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino where they will have a chance to take home new a WSOP gold bracelet.

This event will guarantee players a minimum prize pool of $750,000 and Day 1 will have a 12 p.m. local start time where each player will be given 40,000 in starting chips. Players will play twenty 30-minute levels today, with level 1 starting at 100-100, Players will get a 20-minute break after every four levels of play, with a 75-minute dinner break after coming after 12th level which will be approximately 6.40 p.m local time

Moneymaker Makes His Entrance

Chris Moneymaker is getting settled in at his Brasilia Room table, making his entrance with a meal from Popeye's Chicken and a ziplock bag full of his obligatory promotional patches in hands.

The 2003 WSOP Main Event champion greeted another player, who was wearing a University of Tennessee hat, warmly, and promised not to bust him early.

The first challenging spot of the day has already hit Moneymaker, however, as he discovered his Popeye's meal didn't come with utensils.

Harwood Rakes in the Pot

Zurbaran Sends Hall of Fame Nominee Chris Moneymaker to the Rail

2003 WSOP Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker, who today was revealed to be one of ten finalists nominated for the Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2019, was just eliminated from the tournament.

We missed the preflop action, but we do know that Moneymaker got his short stack all in against two players.

Moneymaker got it in good but fell behind on the flop. The turn was no help to Moneymaker, while the river actually gave the player in Euclid Zurbaran the win with a pair of queens.

With that, Moneymaker headed for the exit.

Grospellier Gets the Double

Lien Hits Runner Runner to Eliminate 'The Master'

Bradley Lien limped in from under the gun as did the button player. Men 'The Master' Nguyen called from the small blind and Yingxin Chen checked his option from the big.

Both Nguyen and Chen checked the flop to Lien who bet 3,000. The button player folded and as did Chen after Nguyen three-bet to 9,000. Action was back on Lien who put Nguyen all in for his remaining 18,000, Nguyen called.

Nguyen was in great shape as he flopped trip threes but the on the turn gave Lien a king-high flush draw.

The dealer then put the on the river and Lien hit runner-runner to eliminate "The Master' from the tournament.

Foxen Pushes Opponent Off Hand With River Bet
