In a head's up situation, the board showed with a big pot already containing around 80,000 when both Joe Hindry in the small blind and Antoine Saout in the hijack checked.
The river showed a and both players checked once more. Hindry turned over and it was enough for Saout who mucked his hand.
Michael Jagroo, who came into Day 2 with a sizable chipstack, just added to that amount by taking down back-to-back pots.
In the first hand action folded around to the player in the cutoff and he raised to 5,000. When it folded to Jagroo in the small blind, he three-bet to 17,000 and got called. Jagroo continued his aggression by leading out on the flop with a bet of 13,000, which was enough to take down the pot.
On the very next hand a player in early position raised it up to 5,500, and was three-bet to 15,300 from the player in the next seat over. With action on Jagroo, he made the call from the button and the original raiser also came along for the additional 9,800. After the original raiser checked the flop, the next player put out a continuation bet of 17,000, which was quickly met with a three-bet to 55,000 by Jagroo. Both players folded their hands, which sent the second straight pot to Jagroo.
Valentin Vornicu was under the gun, facing off against an opponent on his right.
The action was picked up on the flop where Vornicu fired 7,000 and the big blind check-called.
Vornicu barrelled the turn and river, getting two more check-calls for 16,000 and 51,000, respectively. Vornicu roller over for a turned straight and his opponent mucked.
After a player in middle position raised it up to 5,500, Eugene Du Plessis then three-bet shoved his remaining chips. With action back on the original raiser he tanked for well over a minute before releasing his cards and sending the much-needed chips to Du Plessis.
Jon Turner three-bet his right-hand neighbor's raise of 9,000 in a battle of early positions. Turner made it 27,000, the other player moved all in and Turner snap-called.
Turner was ahead with against and a smooth board of confirmed Turner's double for 141,500.
A player in middle position raised it to 6,000 and when action got around to Ronald Farber he three-bet shoved. The original raiser asked for a count, the dealer confirmed 63,000 total, and after some thought the original raiser made the call and Farber saw that he was behind with a smaller pair.
Ronald Farber:
Original Raiser:
The flop didn't seem to offer much help after the original raiser flopped middle set, but the turn gave Farber the slim hope of hitting the runner-runner gutshot straight. The river was one of the four outs that Farber needed to hit to double up and stay alive on Day 2.
