Painter Wins Nice Pot Against Turner

Nível 10 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Jon Turner raised and Jameson Painter called in the small blind. Both drew two on the first draw and no bets were made.

Painter drew one and Turner changed two. Painter took the betting lead but Turner fired a raise. Painter called and drew one again while Turner patted.

Painter check-called one more bet and did well as Turner couldn't beat his {9-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}. Painter added a sizeable chunk to his stack but Turner is still sitting on a more than a healthy stack of around 90,000. He's among the current tournament leaders.

Woods Mucks Before Hand Killed

A-5 Triple Draw

A battle of the blinds saw James Woods and Scott Seiver build a pot of only about 4,000 going to the last draw, where they both took two. However, Seiver grabbed his cards but while Woods was reaching to sweep up his, the dealer apparently accidentally took one into the muck.

The tournament supervisor wasn't sure about the ruling and called for a higher ruling, which Seiver dreaded because he seemed sure Woods' hand would be ruled dead. He said he'd be OK with Woods simply taking the next card. Not wishing to wait for a more senior tournament director to arrive, Woods simply mucked and gave up the pot to Seiver.

When the TD arrived, he confirmed that a by-the-book ruling would kill Woods' hand, however, he'd have been able to make a discretionary ruling that would have allowed Woods to continue playing.

Ivey's Comeback Short-Lived

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Badugi

Phil Ivey raised and got aggressive action from the big blind, who patted down and bet while Ivey called down drawing two, then one, then one. Ivey called a final bet on the end but did not win against {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

Left with just 400, Ivey folded the next hand before being forced in from the big blind and going bust.

Ivey Grinds Back from One Chip

Phil Ivey (as seen in a previous event)
Phil Ivey (as seen in a previous event)

Badugi

Phil Ivey was down to just one chip, a hundo. Now he's back up to 6,000. That's the story of one of the greatest players of all time. Phenomenal Ivey scored a series of doubles, with the latest happening as follows.

First, we saw Ivey all-in in a three-way pot after the second draw where Greg Mueller isolated the third player, battling heads-up against Ivey. He drew two while Ivey took one.

Greg Mueller: {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Phil Ivey: {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

Ivey was ahead with his three-card badugi but he drew {9-Spades}, announcing "spades". Mueller rolled over the {2-Spades}, still having a chance to dispatch Ivey but the {7-Clubs} allowed Ivey to chip up to 2,400.

The next hand saw Ivey double again, climbing to 6,000.

Paul Volpe (captured in the $100k event)
Paul Volpe (captured in the $100k event)

Badugi

Paul Volpe entered the Mixed Triple Draw late after cashing in the $100k event and he's carried his wave of success to this event. Volpe has already notched a third-place finish in the $10k Super Turbo Bounty.

Volpe keeps the foot firmly on the pedal here in the triple draw as he demonstrated a few moments ago in a round of badugi.

The first hand saw Volpe (small blind) three-bet his right-hand opponent Alex Simma. Simma called and changed two while Volpe patted. Simma called additional bets on the following two streets, drawing for one. He folded on the river, leaving a nice chunk for Volpe.

Unfortunately for Simma, that wasn't the only bite Volpe took from his stack. In a three-way pot against John "Miami" Cernuto and Volpe, Simma had a made-hand pre-draw and stood pat. Volpe and Cernuto were drawing for one and Volpe raised Simma's bet after the first draw. Both of his opponents called.

Cernuto drew one and gave up after Simma bet and Volpe called.

Volpe and Simma both patted again and Volpe raised Simma's bet. Simma paused for a while but then couldn't talk himself out of the way. He called only to see Volpe turn up the nuts with {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Obst Catches Hennigan

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Badugi

James Obst bet after the first draw from the small blind and John Hennigan called in position. Obst took two cards and Hennigan one. Obst bet again and this time faced a raise. He called and both players took a card. Obst check-called a final bet.

"You got it," Hennigan said, shaking his head.

When Obst didn't show right away, Hennigan waited about three seconds and then mucked.

Ferguson Fires Every Street

Nível 9 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Badugi

Chris Ferguson raised and the big blind defended. Ferguson then bet every single street, drawing one on the first draw and patting thereafter.

His opponent kept calling, drawing two on the first draw and one on the last two draws. He folded to the last barrel as his hand couldn't get there.
