Calderaro Makes a Low on the River for a Chop

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

There was 9,000 in the middle between Brandon Shack-Harris, James Calderaro and one player in the cutoff on a flop of {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades} and all three players checked around.

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and Calderaro led with a bet of 9,000 before Shack-Harris put out a big chunk of chips, making it 28,500 and leaving himself with 2,000 behind. The player in the cutoff tanked for a long while before eventually flashing his cards to Dan Shak then folded.

This prompted a series of whoahs from the table as Calderaro was sitting next to Shak. Calderaro claimed that he didn't see the cards.

"But I think you had three aces now," Calderaro said.

"I just wanted to show that I wasn't tanking for nothing," the cutoff player said.

Calderaro mulled over his decision for a bit then eventually called.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and Calderaro bet 2,000 to put Shack-Harris all in. Shack-Harris quickly called and showed his {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} for the nut straight. Calderaro had {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for the low and the two would chop the pot.

"I had the nuts," the player in the cutoff said. "I would've got quartered."

"I thought you had three aces," Calderaro said, explaining that his hand would've severely impacted Calderaro's outs. "I would've folded," Calderaro continued, explaining he would've folded if the cutoff player called.

Either way, Calderaro and Shack-Harris chopped the pot.
