Welcome to PokerNews' Day 1 coverage of Event #56: $10,000 Razz Championship.
Starting in 2014, the World Series of Poker introduced the $10,000 Razz Championship and the winners over the years have been some of poker's best. Last summer, a field of 97 players took part and it was Australian James Obst breaking through for his first World Series of Poker bracelet.
Here is a look at the $10,000 Razz numbers since its inception:
Year | Entries | Prize Pool | Winner | Country | Prize |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2017 | 97 | $911,800 | James Obst | Australia | $265,138 |
2016 | 100 | $940,000 | Ray Dehkharghani | United States | $273,338 |
2015 | 103 | $968,200 | Phil Hellmuth | United States | $271,105 |
2014 | 112 | $1,052,800 | George Danzer | Germany | $294,792 |
For this year's event, players begin with 50,000 in chips and limits beginning at 500-1,000 with a 100 ante and 200 bring-in. There will be 10 levels played on Day 1 and registration remains open until the beginning of Day 2, so prize pool information won't be available until then.
Cards will be in the air at 3 p.m., so keep it here at PokerNews for live updates on all of the action.
