Barry Hutter Closing in on Second WSOP Bracelet; Four Players Remain in Event #54: Big Blind Antes $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Day 3 of Event #54: Big Blind Antes $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em has come to an end and Barry Hutter is leading the way after bagging up 6,265,000 in chips. Hutter was sitting behind a big stack for much of the night and caught fire in the last level to move into the chip lead.

With over US$4 million in live tournament winnings, Hutter already has a bracelet to his name which came back in 2015 in Event #14 $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Shootout and was good for a $283,546 payday — Hutter's second best cash to date. The US player will return on Day 4 with just three players standing between him and his second WSOP bracelet.

All four remaining players are guaranteed to make at least $163,404, but it is the $522,715 top prize, as well as the prestigious WSOP bracelet, that will be their focus when play resumes for the final day.

Portugal's Diogo Veiga sits in second with 5,195,000 and like Hutter, Veiga made his presence known in the late stages of Day 3.

Bulgaria's Radoslav Stoyanov will come back in third with 2,495,000 and the start of Day 3 chip leader Jonathan Abdellatif is the short stack with 1,350,000.

A total of 31 players returned to action for Day 3, all of whom were already guaranteed a payday of $12,399. Michael Ciaravino was the first elimination, opening the floodgates for a slew of early exits and the field was whittled down to the final two tables in short order.

Hutter sent a number of players to the rail to seize the lead shortly after play became 18-handed, though Radoslav Stoyanov took over the top spot for a while after eliminating two-time WSOP bracelet winner Kristen Bicknell in 11th place ($29,284) to set up the unofficial 10-handed final table.

Ryan Hall fell at the hands of Anna Antimony to set up the official final table shortly afterward, shoving pocket deuces into the latter's pocket tens preflop to depart in 10th place for a $29,284 payday.

The USA's Todd Ivens was the first official casualty, falling at the hands of Abdellatif after running a turned aces-up into the Belgium player's flopped set of eights, departing with $37,660 for his deep run.

Cathal Shine departed not long after the dinner break after running ace-jack into the ace-queen of Hutter with a preflop shove and the Irishman departed in eighth place for a $49,126 payday.

A series of short-stacked double-ups followed, before Anna Antimony got short and shoved queen-jack into the ace-seven of Hutter and she exited in seventh for $64,991.

It would be Abdellatif who scored the next knockout, sending New Zealand's [Removed:17] to the rail in sixth place after the latter got his last ten big blinds in with jack-six offsuit and was looked up by the Belgium with a dominating jack-nine, which improved to a full house by the river to send Yan off to collect his $87,179 prize money.

The final casualty of the day was Tom McCormick who departed shortly before the close of play, with Diogo Veiga doing the honors this time around. McCormick got the last of his chips in with pocket jacks and Veiga looked him up with ace-four suited and spiked the ace on the flop to send McCormick out in fifth for $118,552.

The final four players will return to the Brasilia room at 2pm local time to resume Day 4 play and one of these players will take home $522,715 along with the most coveted jewelry in poker. The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to bring you coverage of all the action.
