Shebell Chips Up a Lot

Darren Shebell more than doubled his stack thanks to two hands. In the first hand ,he scooped Frankie O'Dell with a full house, eights over jacks, and got right into another pot with big-stack Farhad Mobassery right after.

Shebell paired his ten on sixth and checked, Mobassery gave it a look over to the other side of the table and checked behind. Shebell checked in the dark and Mobassery bet seventh. Shebell called.

"I have tens up," Mobassery announced.

Shebell quickly replied, "I have jacks up," before tabling his .

"Why do you check?" Mobassery asked.

Shebell joked back, "Because you are doing the betting for me."

Maxwell Troy catapulted his stack all the way to the top in a massive hand that involved a knockout. We arrived at the table when the action was on fourth street and three players were in for a capped round: Troy, Julien Martini, and Perry Friedman.

Martini then bet on fifth and Friedman called for all his remaining chips. Troy woke up with a check-raise and Martini called.

They both checked sixth street and Friedman joked, "Now they check me down!"

Troy finally bet on the river, earning one more call from Martini and the showdown began:

Troy made a straight and Martini mucked his hand. Friedman was still drawing live, having a set of tens. He couldn't peel a river card that would match any of those he already had, and Troy scooped the giant pot, eliminating Friedman and wounding Martini.

"I tried to check-raise you on sixth but you didn't bite," Troy said to Martini, revealing that he had a gutter and hit it. Jameson Painter then called Troy out for the phrase he said to Ferguson before dinner: "Some play great, some catch great."

Troy laughed out loud while raking in the monster pot that allowed him to take over the chip lead. "That's a good one! You gotta put that in that he said that!"

Chen looked at his opponent and then reached to his stack and slid in calling chips. O'Dell showed him his flush and Chen mucked, dropping to just two big bets.

Robert Campbell bet fifth and sixth against Steven Albini and was called both times before the duo elected to check. Albini flashed the with the and Campbell mucked.

Maxwell Troy and Julien Martini clashed in yet another pot, but this time the queens of Troy ended up second-best as Martini got some chips back with jacks and treys. On the same table, Katherine Fleck chipped up slightly with aces in the hole, the betting was limited as Chris Ferguson had a six-high four-card straight showing on sixth.

Chen Finds a Dub

Pete Chen was betting to the pot on fourth street, forcing a fold from Bertrand Grospellier. Darren Shebell called with an open pair of treys and Chen barreled the next round where he caught a jack. Shebell called again and Chen fired one more time on sixth.

"I'll put you all in," Shebell said, raising to 6,500 more for Chen's remaining chips. Chen called.

"Baaam!" Chen said, showing buried jacks for a set. Shebell was second with tens and fours but still had a chance to score a knockout as Chen bricked the river. However, Shebell couldn't peel any of his four outs and Chen doubled.

Robert Campbell and Elias Hourani tangled in a pot that would see Campbell getting eliminated in a cruel fashion.

Campbell was betting on fourth and fifth street and then ended up all in when Hourani bet on sixth, covering Campbell's remaining stack. Campbell committed his chips in but he heard terrible news:

"Three deuces," Hourani said and Campbell realized that his opponent hit a set on sixth street.

Campbell still had a chance to outdraw his rival but he found a blank six on the river and walked away in 20th place.
