Comers and Goers

Nível 8 : 300/600, 100 ante

The field has been like a revolving door on Day 1 with players entering almost as fast as those that are busting. Some of the recent additions include Jason Mercier, Kristen Bicknell, and Uri Reichenstein who all just recently busted out of other events going on at the Rio Convention Center. Chris Johnson also recently sat down and has already more than doubled his stack to over 40,000 chips.

Some of those that were on their opposite way through the doors include WSOP Main Event champions Joe Cada and Scott Blumstein, Justin Bonomo, and Seth Davies.

Nível 8 : 300/600, 100 ante
David Peters
David Peters

David Peters just recently took a seat in the field and got to work right away. After the button opened to 1,200, David Peters defended from the big blind. The flop fell {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Peters check-called a bet of 900 from his opponent.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {j-Diamonds} on the river. Peters checked for the third time with four diamonds on the board and his opponent tossed in a bet of 1,500. Peters instantly called and his opponent mucked his cards, sending the pot to Peters who didn't have to show his cards.

MacPhee Fills Up on the River

Nível 8 : 300/600, 100 ante

The board read {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Kevin MacPhee had flopped a set with {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, his opponent turned a straight with {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The two players got all of their chips in the middle on the turn with MacPhee holding a slightly bigger stack.

MacPhee would need to come from behind if he wanted to avoid being on a short stack. The river brought the {3-Clubs} and MacPhee improved to a full house to eliminate his opponent and climb over 60,000 chips.

Hartree on Another Heater

Nível 8 : 300/600, 100 ante
Kyle Hartree from a previous event
Kyle Hartree from a previous event

Kyle Hartree's day got off to a good start when he was one of the first ones through the Brasilia Room doors this morning. He felt he was given a good table draw plus he was full of confidence coming off a deep run in the $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER, finishing in 25th place for around $40,000. Little did he know, his day was about to get much better.

Hartree began building his stack within the first couple levels and headed into the first break with around 35,000. When the dinner break arrived, the Canadian poker pro had run up a stack to around 60,000 but his table got a little tougher with the presence of John Racener. After the dinner break, another poker pro in Toby Lewis also joined his table but that wasn't going to spoil Hartree's day.

Just recently, we walked past the table to find that Lewis was missing from his seat and Hartree had heaps of chips in front of him. He explained that he opened with ace-king and Lewis just ripped all in with king-ten suited. The action was back on Hartree who made the call and was in a dominating position. The board ran out clean for Hartree, sending Lewis to the rail, and sending Hartree to the top of the leaderboard, closing in on 100,000 chips.

Gross Jams the River

Nível 7 : 250/500, 75 ante
Jeff Gross
Jeff Gross

The board read {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs} and the big blind had led out for 10,000 into a pot of around 14,000 on the river. Jeff Gross was casually getting a massage and looked as though he wasn't interested in the hand at all. However, he was the facing a large bet from his opponent.

Gross counted out his own stack and thought for a minute before announcing all in for just shy of 25,000. Now it was his opponent's turn to ask for a count. He thought there was no way Gross could possibly be bluffing in this situation and decided to throw his cards to the muck.
