Rasmussen Wins Huge Three-Way All-In

Nível 17 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Thayer Rasmussen
Thayer Rasmussen

Thayer Rasmussen limped and two seats over it was Ryan Goindoo, the chip leader from Day 1, who raised to 20,000. Arthur Morris called as well, but when the action was back on Rasmussen he potted for 87,500. Both Goindoo and Morris called.

The flop was {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{A-Spades} and all three players checked, Rasmussen with 6,500 behind. He bet his last 6,500 as soon as the {7-Clubs} turn came down on the felt and both Goindoo and Morris took their time before making the call.

Goindoo check-folded to a bet of 20,000 from Morris on the {9-Spades} river and the cards were opened up.

Thayer Rasmussen: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Arthur Morris: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Rasmussen flopped the nut full-house and that was still the best hand at the end, earning him a triple up to 280,000.

Two Big Stacks Collide

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Filippos Stavrakis
Filippos Stavrakis

The board read {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{2-Spades} and action checked to Uri Reichenstein in the cutoff who bet 38,000 into a pot around 42,000. Filippos Stavrakis made the call from the big blind spot.

The river came the {9-Spades} and Stavrakis checked to Reichenstein who bet 85,000. Stavrakis thought for a moment and then check-raised to 210,000. Reichenstein thought for several moments and then eventually made the call.

Stavrakis tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for the nuts and Reichenstein said, "Good Hand" as he mucked his cards. Stavrakis now has a commanding chip lead as the tournament gets deep into Day 2.

Semin Doubles Up Through Shorr

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Mikhail Semin
Mikhail Semin

Mikhail Semin was pretty short when he raised under the gun to 10,500. Shannon Shorr called from the big blind and the two saw a flop.

The flop was {2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Shorr bet all-in, which was enough to make Semin put his last 11,000 in the pot.

Shannon Shorr: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Mikhail Semin: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The dealer put down the {10-Spades} and {9-Hearts} and Semin stood up thinking he was eliminated, but the pot went his way, leaving Shorr with less than ten big blinds.

Troha Shoves into Reichenstein at the Wrong Time

Nível 13 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Uri Reichenstein
Uri Reichenstein

The board read {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades} and the small blind player bet 12,000. Sean Troha raised to 41,000 and Uri Reichenstein called from early position.

The initial better folded and the river came the {6-Spades}. Troha thought for a moment and then pushed all in for 49,400. Reichenstean made the snap-call and turned over {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Spades} for flopped quads.

Troha mucked his hand, shaking his head as he walked to the payout desk and that pot moved Reichenstein into the chip lead halfway through level 13.

Gelencser Eliminates McNeil

Nível 12 : 800/1,600, 0 ante
Calen McNeil
Calen McNeil

Peter Gelencser opened to 4,100 from the hijack and Calen McNeil three-bet to 14,700. Gelencser made the call and the flop fell {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Gelencser checked and McNeil then moved all in for his remaining 35,500. Gelencser called and both players tabled their hands, McNeil tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a pair of aces and Gelencser showed {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives with a straight draw.

The turn was the {j-Hearts}, giving Gelencser two pair and McNeil would now need to improve to win. The river did not help McNeil as the {q-Spades} landed on the board. Gelencser took down the pot and sent the McNeil to the rail.

Joe Cada Looking to Continue Hot Summer in Day 2 of Event #26: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha

Joe Cada
Joe Cada

This year the turnout for Event #26: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha was just shy of last year's, reeling in 968 runners. After 10 levels of play yesterday in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, there were 100 hopefuls finding a bag and moving onto Day 2 today which starts at 12 p.m. local time.

One name that stands out from the pack is 2009 Main Event Champion Joe Cada. Cada has three bracelets, all in no-limit hold'em, with one of them coming earlier this summer in Event #3: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. He joined this tournament later in the day, but instantly started to build a stack and will be going into Day 2 with above average chips of 57,800.

The biggest stacks that comprise the top five going into Day 2 include current leader Ryan Goindoo (196,000), Ivaylo Sivinov (192,900), Clint Montfort (173,900), Thayer Rasmussen (142,000), and Richard Tuhrim (141,700).

There are some other notables who made it through all ten levels yesterday, a list that includes Brazil's own Felipe Ramos (81,100), Germany's Martin Finger (72,200), Robert Cowen (58,900), Mark Dube (40,000), Mikhail Semin (44,700), and bracelet winner Calen McNeil (45,500).

Play will resume with Level 11 (600/1,200 blinds) and levels will be 60 minutes in length. The players will be getting a 15-minute break after every two levels of play, with a 60-minute dinner break coming after the sixth level. There will be ten levels played before players move on to the third and final day of play.
