Mandavia Doubles Through Cuch

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Ankush Mandavia
Ankush Mandavia

Ankush Mandavia was all in on the river when the board read {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

His opponent, Ademir Cuch, had him covered and would have to call 161,000 to see Mandavia's hand. After he used up some thinking time Cuch made the call and saw the bad news - he was behind.

Ankush Mandavia: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Ademir Cuch: {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Mandavia held the nuts with an ace high flush to put himself in contention of building a large stack for Day 3 in the final level of the day.

Gerald 'Skullman' David raised from early position and only Dutch Boyd in the small blind called. Both players checked the {2-Hearts}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop before Boyd lead the {8-Diamonds} turn for 26,000. David, however, wasn't going anywhere and raised to 69,000, which Boyd called.

When the river brought the {q-Diamonds} the action reverted to check-check, and the players tabled their hands.

Gerald David: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Dutch Boyd: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

David's set of kings was the winner, and he clawed in the pot to move up to 400,000. Incidentally, as David was stacking his newly collected chips he raised from under the gun but no one called and he revealed pocket aces to the table.

The remaining 30 players of Event #13: Big Blind Antes $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em bagged their chips to return for Day 3, and play down to a winner, who will receive $315,346 along with a WSOP gold bracelet.

The money was reached soon after the day started, with 196 players of the 224 players that came back for Day 2 locking up $2,254 on the first level of the day.

However, many notables did not survive much longer, such as 2010 Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel (126th for $2,626), 2016 Main Event Winner Qui Nguyen (91st for $2,851), bracelet winner Chance Kornuth (85th for $3,143), Nate Silver (79th for $3,517), Manig Loeser (66th for $3,994), and four-time bracelet winner Jeff Madsen (58th for $4,602).

All 30 Day 2 survivors are now guaranteed $7,670 and three-time bracelet winner Dutch Boyd secured the top spot with a stack of 748,000. The US player already has three WSOP bracelets in Hold'em events and $1,817,939 in earnings.

Shaun Deeb (194,000) and Ankush Mandavia (283,000) are two former WSOP bracelet winners who also survived the day and will be looking to add another gold bracelet to their collection. Deeb managed to find a bag while multi-tabling between this event and Event#14: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw.

Other notables through to Day 3 include Daniel Strelitz (220,000), Romain Lewis (420,000) and Justin Young (396,000).

The action will resume at 12pm local time on Thursday, 7 June, with level 21 and blinds of 5,000/10,000 with 10,000 ante, and the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to bring you highlights of all the action.
