Merrill Doubles Through Berger

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Seth Berger raised to 2,200 in the hijack, Brandon Merrill three-bet to 5,200 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Berger, who called.

The flop fell {7-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, Berger checked, and Merrill tossed out 5,100. Berger called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, Berger checked again, and Merrill moved all in for 21,400. Berger winced at the sight of the bet, then tanked for a minute or two before calling.

Berger: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Merrill: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The {9-Clubs} bricked off on the river, and Merrill doubled through.

How Sears was Speared

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We missed the elimination of Nikolai Spears, which happened just before the dinner break, but we learned some details after the fact and thought we'd share them with you.

In what would be his last hand, a player in early position opened for 1,600 only to have Russell Crane three-bet to 4,000 from late position. Sears then four-bet to 11,800 from the big blind, the original raiser folded, and Crane called to see the {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop. Sears led out for 11,100 and called off for 39,000 total when Crane moved all in.

Crane: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Sears: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Crane flopped top pair, but Sears was drawing very much alive to both straight and flush draws. The {6-Spades} turn was no help to Sears, and the {a-Hearts} river actually improved Crane to a full house. Sears failed to catch and saw his 2014 WSOP Main Event come to an end.

Kaverman Runs Into Aces

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived to see Byron Kaverman and an opponent looking down at a flop of {6-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Kaverman checked over to his opponent who tossed out a bet of 5,500. Kaverman flat-called to see fourth street.

The dealer rapped the table and produced the {9-Clubs} on the turn. Kaverman checked to the aggressor once more only to find him check the action in reply. The {8-Spades} came on the river and Kaverman thought for about 30 seconds before cutting out a bet of 22,500. His opponent called and Kaverman rolled over {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for queens and sixes. His opponent had that beat, however, with {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} for a better two pair.

Kaverman watched as the chips were pushed to his opponent. He's now sitting on roughly 64,000.

"If You Are From Canada, I Call"

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

"Last time, you had aces," muttered a player who tank against an all-in wager of 101,200 from Chris Greaves.

Greaves' opponent had made it 20,000 to go before the flop, and Greaves was all-in and silent with his head bowed. His opponent shifted in his seat and attempted to find anything that would help him make the right decision.

"Where are you from?" the player asked Greaves. "If you are from Canada, I call."

Greaves didn't respond.

"How are you feeling, good?" Greaves' opponent asked, craning his neck to get a better view of Greaves. "Do you want a call? Sir?!"

Finally, the player called.

Greaves: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Upon seeing the aces, Greaves' opponent stalked away in despair. The dealer ran out a board of {7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} in his absence.

Brunson Doubles

Todd Brunson at the $10K Stud final table
Todd Brunson at the $10K Stud final table

Douglas Cook raised to 3,200 from early position, Todd Brunson three-bet to 8,500 out of the big blind, and Cook four-bet to 13,500. Brunson wasn't backing down, five-betting to 25,500, and Cook called.

The dealer fanned {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, Brunson led out for 5,000, and Cook moved all in for effectively 14,400 or so. Brunson was getting great odds to call, but tanked for several minutes before calling.

Brunson: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Cook: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The pocket rockets held up as the turn and river bricked {6-Spades}, {5-Diamonds} respectively, and Brunson doubled through.

Andersen Getting Short

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Danielle Andersen
Danielle Andersen

A short-stacked player moved all in for 6,400 and Danielle Andersen moved all in as well for a little more than 25,000 total. Everyone else folded and Andersen shook her head and muttered "impeccable timing" when she turned over {A-}{Q-} and saw that she was up against {A-}{A-}. The board ran out {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and a frustrated Andersen would let out a load "aaaahhhhhhhh" as she saw her stack slip to just 20,000.
