Zalewski Gives Some Back

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jacob Zalewski
Jacob Zalewski

After recently doubling up, Jacob Zalewski has given a good chunk of those chips back. In a couple of the hands that did the damage, John Monnette took a good chunk, and then Antonio Esfandiari won the following pot.

On the {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, Zalewski had called a bet of 5,300 from Esfandiari before the dealer put out the {3-Diamonds} on the turn. Both players checked to see the {J-Spades} land on the river, and Esfandiari bet 8,300. Zalewski called with the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, but it was no good against the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for Esfandiari.

Lau Cracks Aces To Double Up

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Brigette Lau in the $10,000 WSOP PLO tournament
Brigette Lau in the $10,000 WSOP PLO tournament

We heard "all in and a call" come from a dealer's mouth here in the Purple section of the Amazon Room. It was Brigette Lau who was all in and at risk holding {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} on a {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop. She was in bad shape as her opponent held {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

The turn would give Lau more outs as it was the {5-Clubs}. She would survive with any seven, six, three, or deuce. The river was the {6-Hearts}, giving Lau trip sixes and leading to a heavy sigh from the player with aces, as he had to send close to 25,000 of his stack over to Lau.

Greer Rivered

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Garrett Greer raised from middle position, the player in the cutoff three-bet to 6,100 and Greer called.

They checked to the turn of a {4-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{7-Hearts} board where the player in the cutoff bet 6,000. Greer check-called, the {9-Diamonds} landed on the river and Greer check-called another 12,000 from his opponent, who tabled {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for two pair.

Greer flashed {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} as he sent his cards to the muck.

Cannuli Makes a Huge Call

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We found Thomas Cannuli deep in the tank in a huge pot. The board had come {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, and Cannuli had 37,800 in front of him. His opponent on the button had the all in button, as well as 87,300 cut out. Cannuli tanked until Matt Affleck softly asked the dealer for the clock a few minutes after we arrived. About halfway through his final minute, Cannuli made his choice, announcing a call.

"You're an amazing player," the button said, flipping {j-}{3-} for a pair of threes.

Cannuli showed {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a straight, and he dragged the massive pot, saying it was his opponents' reaction to something earlier in the hand that prompted the call.

Jacobson Over 300K

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

Swedish poker pro Martin Jacobson, who finished with the Day 1a chip lead, has just jumped up and over the 300,000-chip mark thanks to this recent pot.

After a player in early position opened with a min-raise to 2,000, Jacobson reraised to 6,500 from the cutoff position with a dead button at the table. Action folded back to the original raiser, he called, and the dealer fanned out the {J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop. After the first player checked, Jacobson bet 7,000. He was called.

The turn was the {7-Spades} to pair the board, and both players checked to see the {3-Diamonds} come out on the river. After the first player checked, Jacobson bet 20,000. His opponent wasted little time in making the call.

Jacobson tabled the {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for two pair, jacks and sevens, with a king kicker, and he won the pot.

Little Scores KO

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived in time to see a player three-bet ship all in over the top of a Jonathan Little open. The all in was for roughly 15,000 and Little plopped forward a call, only to find that he was dominated.

Little: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

Little quickly came from behind, however, flopping two pair with {Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{5-Hearts}. His opponent stood up from the table and he held his lead through the turn ({J-Diamonds}) and the river ({3-Spades}). With this elimination, Little's stack now sits around 154,000.

Who's That Guy?

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Eric Cloutier is being very loquacious at one of the secondary feature tables where Ryan Riess is looking to defend his title. As our reporter came over to Riess to grab his chip count, Cloutier joked, "Why you talking to him? Who's that guy?" and then referenced his stack, which was the largest at the table at 225,000 in chips.

Riess laughed, and the dealer nodded over to the banner that hung about 50 yards away bearing Riess' winner photo from last year's Main Event.

"Oh, he's that guy," said Cloutier, a sly grin coming over his face.
