Mercier Mashed; Riess Run Out

Nível 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Ryan Riess busts
Ryan Riess busts

Jason Mercier raised to 1,750 out of the small blind, his neighbor reraised to 3,500, and Mercier called. The flop fell {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Mercier checked, and the player fired out 3,000. Mercier moved all in for 13,200, and the player quickly called.

Mercier: {4-Spades}{3-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The turn and river bricked {2-Diamonds}, {8-Clubs} respectively, and Mercier was off to the showers.

Across the room, Ryan Riess was eliminated by Eli Elezra on a flop of {a-}{7-}{2-}. Riess was in a commanding lead with {a-}{k-} against Elezra's {a-}{10-}, but the turn was a {10-}. The river was no help to the 2013 champ, and he hit the rail.

After the hand, Zo Karim said he too had {a-}{10-}.

Full House for Freitez

Nível 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

When we arrived at Table 9, all of the chips were in the middle between Mark Radoja and Ivan Freitez. Radoja had {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} in front of him, Freitez {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and the board was completing {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

Freitez, winner of the Season 8 EPT Grand Final Main Event, raked in the pot with a full house, and Radoja hit the rail.

Defending Champion Getting Shorter

Erick Lindgren won this event in 2013
Erick Lindgren won this event in 2013

Erick Lindgren, the defending champion of this event, called an under-the-gun raise to 400 from middle position, as did a player in the big blind. The dealer fanned {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, the action checked to the original raiser, and he continued for 650. Only Lindgren called.

Lindgren called another 1,800 on the turn ({7-Diamonds}), and an all-in bet of 6,525 on the river ({k-Clubs}). The player showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} for a flush draw that turned into a pair of kings, and Lindgren mucked.

Katz Has All of the Tens

Nível 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Cary Katz, who finished runner-up to Davidi Kitai in a bracelet event last summer, raised to 400 in middle position. A player in the cutoff three-bet to 1,200, a third player cold-called in the big blind, and Katz called as well.

The trio all checked on a flop of {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, and the turn was the {2-Hearts}. The action checked to Katz, who fired out 1,075, and the player in the big blind called.

The river was the {k-Spades}, Katz picked up the pot with a bet of 2,325, and he tabled the two remaining tens in the deck: the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

According to Katz, it's the second time today he's made quad tens. Unfortunately for him, there are no bonuses in this version of Texas Hold'em.

Turn Down for What?

Uncle Krunk (Previous event) busts
Uncle Krunk (Previous event) busts

Robert "Uncle Krunk" Panitch, called a bet of what looked like 1,500 or so from Kevin Saul on a flop of {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Both players checked on the turn ({q-Clubs}), and Saul bombed the river, moving all in for 12,000 or so.

"I call," Panitch blurted immediately, pushing his stacks forward in a Hellmuthian style.

Saul showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} for a pair of kings, and Panitch tried to muck, but WSOP rules dictate that he must show his hand. The dealer revealed {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for a pair of queens, and Panitch hit the rail.
