D'Angelo Loses Flip

Nível 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

Ryan D'Angelo had what looked to be a three-bet to about 1,500 in front of him, and a player to his left pushed all in for 3,650. D'Angelo made the call after getting the count, though he didn't seem thrilled.

D'Angelo: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

D'Angelo was in decent shape, but the {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} board brought no help.

Phil Hellmuth is over at his table waxing poetic on his favorite subject: Phil Hellmuth.

"I see everything," he told one tablemate. "I know when they're weak, I know when they're strong. I see it all."

In fact, he's seen his way up from a 3,000-chip start to over 4,000 now.

Sluzinski Calls it Off

Nível 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

With the community having come {6-Spades}{q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Jeff Sluzinski was facing an all-in bet from an opponent who had him covered. Sluzinski had about 10,000 left, roughly the size of the pot.

"Why so much?" Sluzinski asked.

We moved to check on another table, and by the time we got back, Sluzinski had made the call and had {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} tabled in front of him. His opponent's cards were already in the muck, and Sluzinski grabbed a big double.

Grand Opening, Grand Closing

Ryan Riess at his banner unveiling
Ryan Riess at his banner unveiling

Ryan Riess' late entrance in this event could end up being an early exit as well.

Soon after sitting down he had one player at his table all in for 2,675 holding {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} against {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

It looked good for the 2013 WSOP Main Event champ on the {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop, but the {5-Clubs} turn gave his opponent a gutshot that the {2-Spades} river completed.

He's now down to 1,100 and it appears this might not be his day. Earlier, the WSOP had planned to unveil his championship banner in the Amazon Room, but unfortunately they misspelled his name on it, transposing the 'i' and 'e'.

"No big deal," Riess told PokerNews. "Everybody makes mistakes. They tell me it'll be fixed by Tuesday."

Seidel Over 30k

Nível 7 : 150/300, 25 ante
Erik Seidel, pictured in a different event.
Erik Seidel, pictured in a different event.

We found Erik Seidel locking horns with the player to his right in a blind-versus-blind battle. The small blind bet 1,500 on fourth with the board reading {j-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}, and Seidel made it 4,000. The small blind called, and the {9-Diamonds} river prompted a check-call of the same bet.

Seidel turned over {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for aces up, and that was good for the pot.
