Hand #54: Giannetti Takes One from Bounahra

Nível 38 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

Ben Lamb had the button.

Bob Bounahra raised to two million from under the gun. Action folded to Matt Giannetti in the big blind and he tanked for a bit. Giannetti eventually would make the call and the dealer ran out the {J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop. Giannetti checked and Bounahra checked.

The {5-Clubs} landed on the turn. Giannetti led for 2.45 million. Bounahra called.

The river was the {5-Spades} and paired the board. Giannetti fired 3.75 million. Bounahra went into the tank. After a little bit, he leaned back in his chair and stretched out a bit. He then leaned forward and stared at Giannetti before making the call.

Giannetti tabled the {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Bounahra mucked.

Anton Makiievskyi Eliminated in 8th Place ($1,010,015)

Hand #59:

Phil Collins had the button. The action folded around to the blinds, and Anton Makiievskyi open-shoved for 10.5 million total. In the big blind, Pius Heinz made the quick call, and Makiievskyi was at risk as the cards were turned up. Once again, a nervous wave of energy and excitement came coursing through the theater. It was a flip, and Heinz's pocket pair had him as a slight favorite to earn the knockout.

Showdown
Makiievskyi: {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Heinz: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

We haven't really had too much drama in the room today, and it seems that the current dealer was out to change that. She ripped off a {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} flop to pull Makiievskyi into a big lead and send the Ukrainians into a frenzy. But there were still two cards to come.

Turn: {9-Clubs}!

It was one of the loudest eruptions we've heard today as the entire theater reacted as one in unison shock. The nine gave Heinz the full house, and now Makiievskyi needed to pair the king or jack to make the best hand and stay alive. But he could not.

The river {7-Hearts} was a blank, and Makiievskyi was sent off to a warm ovation. Most of the cheering was for Heinz, though, and he's now in command of this final table with over 61 million now.

For Makiievskyi, it's the end of a very long road that's taken him all the way to the Main Event final table. He'll become the first millionaire of the day, and his exit reduces the field to seven.
