Gelencser Shoves Into Kings

Stuart Tuvey Back Up Over 2 Million
Stuart Tuvey Back Up Over 2 Million

Stuart Tuvey raised to 125,000 from the cutoff and the action folded around to Peter Gelencser in the big blind. Gelencser announced that he was all in and Tuvey snap called, flipping over {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} which was crushing Gelencser's {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The flop brought the case king, coming {10-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Spades}. The turn and river were {7-Diamonds} and {8-Spades} respectively, and just like that Gelencser was sent packing while Tuvey added some wiggle room to his stack.

Lenaghan Leapfrogs the Field

Bryan Follain - @2012wsopchamp?
Bryan Follain - @2012wsopchamp?

In middle position, Ryan Lenaghan opened to 110,000, and Bryan Follain three-bet to 355,000 a couple seats over. When it came back to Lenaghan, he asked how much his opponent was playing, a number that would end up factoring into the hand in the end -- 4 million straight. Lenaghan reraised to 865,000, and Follain didn't delay too long before he announced, "One point two," on a five-bet. Lenaghan double-checked his cards, and he very quickly announced an all in with his massively covering stack putting the pressure on. Follain was still in the middle of counting out the bet he'd made, and he froze dead in his tracks and fumbled the chips into the pot. He was clearly a bit shaken by the decision facing him, and he'd go on to spend the next several minutes struggling over it. With 2.2 million chips in the pot, he only had 1.8 left behind. Follain stood up, took a quick lap around behind his chair, then sat down and rubbed his forehead beneath his hat. "Dude! Come on!" he lamented. Finally, he stood up and announced, "All right, I had fun, I call!" He was at risk, and the largest pot of the tournament was heaped in the middle of the table and up for grabs.

Showdown
Lenaghan: {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}
Follain: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

There were a few quizzical looks exchanged around the rail as some expected to see stronger hands than that turned up. Regardless, it was a flip, and Follain was clearly the one doing most of the sweating. He jumped up and down like a boxer, pleading for help while Lenaghan sat calmly in his seat, almost uninterested in the whole thing.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, never fully materializing for Follain. He goes by the name @2011wsopchamp on Twitter, but his dreams of winning WSOP gold have been put on ice until at least later this fall in Cannes.

Lenaghan has his sights set on this bracelet right here. That knockout gives him a huge chip lead now, sitting pretty atop the counts with at least 12.3 million in his massive castle.

Bazeley Busts, Sousa Soars

Samuel Holden opened to 100,000 from middle position, Mario Silvestri called in late position, and Jacob Bazeley moved all in for 760,000 from the cutoff. Fabio Sousa then re-shoved for 1.1 million from the big blind, and the action behind folded.

Bazeley: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Sousa: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Bazeley was in bad shape, and things only got worse when the flop fell {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. He was drawing dead after the {a-Spades} turned, and the {j-Clubs} completed the board. Shouts of "Vamo!" erupted from the rail, and Sousa walked over to celebrate as Bazeley packed his things.

Bazeley's Main Event is over, while Sousa is now sitting with more than 2 million chips.

Pocket Rockets for Kaplan

Action folded to Per Linde on the button and he raised to 105,000, which was quickly raised to 245,000 by Gregory Kaplan in the small blind. The big blind got out of the way while Linde made the call. Both players proceeded to check the {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, leading to the {K-Spades} turn.

Kaplan ended up check-calling a bet of 350,000, and the {6-Diamonds} was put out on the river. Both players checked and Kaplan rolled over {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} for the winner.

More Chips For Moore

Christopher Moore raised to 110,000 from under the gun and was called by Sam Barnhart from the cutoff. The flop came down {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Barnhart called a bet of 175,000.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and Moore checked to Barnhart who pushed out 200,000. Moore made the call and the two saw the {A-Diamonds} pair the board on the river. Moore checked once again and Barnhart pushed out 200,000 more. Moore decided on putting out a check-raise, and made the action 700,000 to go. Barnhart made the call and tabled {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for rivered trip aces. Unfortunately for Barnhart, Moore held {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and his queen kicker played.

Moore was able to drag the pot, bringing him up to 4,600,000.

Bellande Busts

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Jean Robert Bellande
Jean Robert Bellande

Jean-Robert Bellande persevered with a below-average stack for much of Day 6, successfully working his way up through several pay jumps. His run has finally come to an end, however, after putting his last 900,000 or so in the middle with {A-Spades}{10-Spades} and running into Tri Huynh's {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The flop came {J-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{7-Spades}, giving Huynh two pair and leaving Bellande in dire straits. The turn brought the {4-Diamonds}, making the river {6-Hearts} no matter, and Bellande has been eliminated in 65th place, having made it a few spots deeper than his 78th-place finish of a year ago.

Huynh adds more to his stack, and now sits around 6.1 million.

Robinson's Straight

Board: {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Nelson Robinson led out for 130,000, and David Bach, the original raiser, made the call. The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Robinson led again - this time for 350,000. Bach went into the tank, and started staring Robinson down.

"I guess you coulda made the straight," he said finally.

After another minute or so in the tank, Bach made the call. Robinson rolled over {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for said straight, and Bach mucked his cards.

Goodbye Gorelik

Not long after Jean-Robert Bellande had been eliminated from the secondary feature table, Aleksandr Mozhnyakov raised to 120,000 from the hijack position before Guy Gorelik shoved from the button for a total of 935,000.

The others got out of the way and Mozhnyakov snap-called, tabling {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} against Gorelik's {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

Despite pairing up on on the board of {8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} Mozhnyakov's kings had Gorelik crushed and another one bites the dust. Mozhnyakov is now on more than 6.2 million.

Bonding Applies Pressure

Lars Bonding raised to 100,000 from middle position only to have Martin Staszko three-bet to 245,000 from the button. Both blinds got out of the way and Bonding made the call. The {K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Spades} flop saw Bonding lead out for 170,000, Staszko raise to 375,000, and Bonding three-bet to 900,000.

Staszko gave it some thought, ultimately deciding to let his hand go.

Tony Hachem

Martin Staszko raised to 105,000 from middle position, then it folded to Kyle Johnson who called from the cutoff. The button got out, then Tony Hachem reraised all in for 1.3 million. The big blind folded, and Staszko immediately tossed his cards away as well.

Johnson thought for a few moments, giving Hachem a chance to speak up. "I don't want to play after the flop with you guys," he grinned. Johnson nodded, saying "I don't think I can call you" before folding as well.

After getting short earlier in the evening, Hachem has worked his way back up to 1.52 million.
