Henson and the Muppets

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Ray Henson is among those who finds himself up early here on Day 1d.

We picked up his latest pot as the dealer spread out a {4-Spades} {5-Clubs} {9-Clubs} flop. Henson check-called a bet of 1,500 there, and he and his opponent checked through the {Q-Diamonds} turn. The {5-Hearts} filled out the board, and Mr. Opponent tried again with another 2,500 chips. Henson made the call, and the other player coud not have mucked quicker. He had to show to win the pot, and Henson's {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} was the best hand, moving him up to about 41,000.

Krav Kaught

Alex Kravchenko just dropped down to 24,000 after he fired out 1,400 on the turn of an {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board only for his next door neighbor to raise all in for his 4,975. Kravchenko gave it some real thought and ended up calling with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} but was already drawing dead against the short stack's {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The {7-Spades} river was meaningless and the Russian has lost about 20% of his stack, not a great start but still there is plenty of time.

Not In Herre

We caught up to the action to find Nelly battling it out with an opponent from the under the gun position on a {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board. After the seven of hearts rolled off the deck the under the gun player put out a bet of 1,250, Nelly then raised and made it 3,400. The under the gun player then moved all in for 13,275 and Nelly called and cards were tabled.

Nelly: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Nelly had top two pair, but was in bad shape as his opponent flopped a set of sixes. In order to steal this pot away from his opponent Nelly would have to spike an ace or a seven on the river. He received no such luck as the {q-Diamonds} landed for the river. Nelly is now below 10,000 in chips.

Cajelais Casually Crushes

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

A player in middle position opened with a raise to 300, and Erik Cajelais called from the cutoff. It folded to the big blind who reraised to 1,500, and both of the remaining players called.

The flop came {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{K-Spades}. The big blind pushed out a bet of 2,100, the middle position player folded, and Cajelais called. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds}, bringing another bet from Cajelais' opponent, this time for 3,500. Cajelais again thrust a tattooed arm forward, setting out the chips the call.

The river brought the {A-Clubs}. Again the big blind bet, this time 5,525. Cajelais wasted no time nonchalantly setting his entire stack out in front of him. His opponent -- covered by Cajelais -- didn't react immediately, and as time passed his agony increased. He said something about not being able to beat Cajelais, to which the latter responded "It's hard to beat king-jack."

Finally Cajelais' opponent let go of his hand, and Cajelais immediately flipped his cards over -- {5-Spades}{8-Spades}! His opponent was still shaking his head (as were others at the table), as Cajelais ordered his current stack of about 50,000.

Kim Hits the Turn

Prahlad Friedman raised to 250 from middle position and found callers in the cutoff and Kelly Kim in the big blind. All three players proceeded to check the {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, leading to the {10-Clubs} on the turn. Kim was first to act and led out for 400, which only the cutoff called.

The river brought the {4-Hearts} and again Kim bet, this time 1,150. The cutoff made the call, but mucked when Kim rolled over {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} for tens with an ace kicker.

Gold vs. Juanda

An player in early position raised to 250 and was called by Jamie Gold in the small blind. John Juanda was in the big blind and put in a three-bet to 1,000. The original raiser folded while Gold made the call, making it heads up to the {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop.

Gold check-called a bet of 1,500 from Juanda, leading to the {2-Hearts} turn. This time Gold to the initiative and led out for 2,000, which Juanda called. Both players ended up checking the river and the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Gold: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Juanda: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Given the players' big pocket pairs and small cards on the flop and turn, Gold must have felt fortunate to have lost less than 5,000.

Ylon Getting Along

Ylon Schwartz
Ylon Schwartz

The board read {K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and about 3,500 sat in the middle. Ylon Schwartz -- the chess master and poker player who finished fourth in the WSOP Main Event in 2008 -- paused for several seconds, then checked, and his opponent checked behind. The river brought the {Q-Diamonds}, putting a fourth diamond on board, and quick checks from both.

Schwartz tabled {5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, for the small flush, and his opponent mucked. Schwartz has about 35,000 to start.

Jurgens Lets it Go

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Nichoel Jurgens was in the big blind and saw a late position limper followed by the player in the hijack who raised to 800. Jurgens and the limper called and the flop came {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {6-Clubs}. Jurgens checked, the limper checked and the hijack player bet 1,625. Jurgens raised to 3,625 and limper got out of the way.

The hijack three bet to 7,625 and after a few seconds of thought Jurgens called. The turn came {10-Clubs}, Jurgens checked and the hijack bet 7,000. Jurgens thought for a bit again and then tossed her cards away.

"Aces?" she asked.

The hijack nodded.

"You sure?" Jurgens pressed.

The hijack nodded again.
