Terrence Chan is now starting to tear it up on this table, moving past the 50,000 chip mark as we approach the next break of the day.
We picked up the action on a flop that read between Chan and three other players; the small blind had led out for 200 and both the big blind and the hijack players called. Chan also followed along and then the action was checked through to him after the turn of the .
Chan fired out 1,200 and that was enough to end it.
Cathy Wong (known best for being the longtime girlfriend of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier) raised it up to 500 from middle position and got three callers before 2009 EPT Copenhagen Champ Anton Wigg re-raised to 2,125. Hong re-raised again to 4,500 and everyone folded back to Wigg who made the call.
The flop came down and Hong checked to Wigg who bet out 6,225. Hong made the call and the two saw the turn. Hong again checked to Wigg who pushed all in and she snap called him tabling but was behind the flopped set of Wigg. The river came and Hong was busto. Wigg on the other hand has moved up to 70,000 and is sitting pretty right now.
A player in middle position raised to 650 and the player in the cutoff called. Daniel Alaei popped it to 1,900 on the button, but chased away neither opponent.
The flop fell and it was checked to Alaei. He bet 2,150, getting calls from both opponents. The landed on the turn saw similar action with both opponents check-calling 5,500 from Alaei. The river was the and all three checked. The middle-position player showed , but was bested by Alaei's .
Todd Brunson has enjoyed a couple of decent levels thus far this afternoon, adding chips throughout the first four hours of play. And he's putting those chips to use.
We just came upon an instance of such in which Brunson, sitting under the gun, and an opponent in middle position were vying for a pot preflop. About 15,000 sat in the middle, with 10,000 sitting in front of Brunson, suggesting he'd either limp-reraised or four-bet his opponent. Having but 17,000 or so behind, his opponent tanked for a couple of minutes before conceding the pot to Brunson.
Brunson is sitting on about 57,000 -- almost twice the starting stack -- as we near the end of Level 2.
Justin Young was all in and at risk preflop for his last 3,200, and was called by two opponents including Russell Finney. The two checked the flop, the on the turn, and then Finney fired 10,000 after the hit the river. His opponent called.
Finney opened up for the nuts, his opponent tabled for a pair of kings, and Young showed before leaving the tournament area.
With a board reading , Jesse Martin bet 5,350 from the small blind only to have his opponent on the button raise to 15,000. Martin hit the tank for a long time, eventually having the clock called on him, before making the call.
Showdown
Button:
Martin: muck
Martin was left with just 350 chips after the hand, which will no doubt test the old adage, "A chip and a chair."
