Martin, Peters, and Kanit Among Returning Players for Day 3 of the WSOP Paradise $5,000 Main Event!

It's moving day at the 2023 World Series of Poker Paradise Main Event and by day's end, we will have a final table of six set up to take place tomorrow here on Paradise Island at the beautiful Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas. For the 59 returning players, this will be the day that they look to protect their position and build their stack to make an appearance at that final table in the hopes of being the very first WSOP Paradise Main Event champion.

The tournament, much like the rest of the series, has been a smashing success. The total field for this event grew to 3,010 entries making for a huge $15,050,000 prize pool with a massive $2,000,000 first-place prize reserved for the eventual champion but claiming the title will be no easy task as the field is littered with speed bumps that could throw anyone's day off course.

Returning among the 59 remaining players include names like Kevin Martin (1,050,000), Frank Lagodich (3,670,000), Mustapha Kanit (2,340,000) and 2023 WSOP Main Event third place finisher Adam Walton, who will return to the second biggest stack in the room when he un-bags 8,480,000. Bracelet winners returning looking to add to their trophy case also include Vitor Dzivielevski (4,360,000), Bryce Yockey (2,610,000), David Peters (2,530,000), Timothy Adams (2,280,000), Mikita Badziakouski (2,000,000) and Sam Greenwood, who will come back to a slightly shorter stack of 1,190,000.

Players to make Day 2 but ultimately bust before finding a bag for Day 3 include Daniel Negreanu, Mark Ioli, Davidi Kitai, Jim Collopy, Byron Kaverman and Kartik Ved. The reigning world champion of poker, 2023 WSOP Main Event Champion Daniel Weinman, also made a deep run at another WSOP Main Event but fell just a few spots short of a bag late in the day on Day 2.

The remaining 59 players will return at 2 p.m. local time on Wednesday to play down to a final table of six which will be streamed to a winner on Day 4 of the event. The field will return to Level 26 with blinds at 40,000/80,000/80,000. There will be a 75-minute dinner break after Level 30 at about 6:30 p.m. local time.

With so much money on the line and a Main Event bracelet up for grabs, this promises to be one of the most exciting events of the year, so keep it locked to PokerNews for continued coverage and the conclusion of events here at the 2023 WSOP Paradise from the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas!

Action folded to Frank Lagodich on the button who raised to 160,000. Troy Quenneville was in the big blind and made the call to see the 339 flop.

Quenneville checked over to Lagodich who continued with a bet of 100,000. Quenneville made the call and the dealer put the J out on the turn.

Action checked through to the Q river.

Quenneville checked once more only to see Lagodich come out with another bet, this time for 350,000. Quenneville wasn't quick to release his hand, but after a moment, he checked his cards one last time and sent them into the muck.

Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit jammed from the hijack for right around 800,000. Action then folded to Renji Mao who made the quick call from the big blind to set up a runout and put Kanit at risk.

Mustapha Kanit: AJ
Renji Mao: 44

The 436 flop spelled disaster for Kanit who would need running wheel cards to stave off elimination but when the 6 hit the turn, Kanit was drawing dead headed to the meaningless K river.

Kanit stood to make his exit from the tournament area as Mao collected the last of his chips here one level into Day 3.
