Just before the break, chip leader Maz Misaghian opened for 1,250 under the gun only to have 2012 WSOP runner-up Jesse Sylvia three-bet jam for 9,000 total from the small blind.
"I can afford to give you some chips," Misaghian explained before making the call.
Misaghian:
Sylvia:
Sylvia was ahead, but Misaghian was drawing to two live cards. The flop was no danger to Sylvia, and the turn actually paired him. All he needed to do was dodge a queen on the river to survive, and that's just what he did as the blanked.

Dylan Wilkerson opened under the gun and Dylan Hortin three-bet all in for 11,375 from the cutoff. Brazil's Bruno Politano then called from the big blind and Wilkerson got out of the way.
Hortin:
Politano:
Hortin had kicker issues, and it got worse as Politano flopped Broadway on the flop. Hortin could chop with a queen, but in order to win he needed running cards. Hortin began to get up out of his chair, but the turn gave him pause. He picked up a flush draw, and much to Politano's dismay, it came in when the spiked on the river. Hortin breathed a big sigh of relief and retook his seat.

From the small blind, Phil Hellmuth raised to 1,400 only to have Yu Kurita three-bet to 5,400. Hellmuth went deep into the tank, eventually stating to the table, "sorry guys, this is a tough one ... give me one more minute."
Eventually Hellmuth would move all in and Kurita called the additional 625.
Hellmuth:
Kurita:
With Hellmuth in terrible shape, the flop connected strongly with him seeing him flop a flush.
Needing to fade another spade, the turn and river landed the and to ensure Hellmuth the double to 12,500.

Ryan Riess opened the action with a raise to 1,300 from the hijack. Kris Nestorovic called from the small blind, and then a short-stacked Shane Stark shoved all in for 3,425 more from the big. Riess responded by dropping a bunch of chips in the middle, and Nestorovic tossed in a single chip to call.
Nestorovic must have thought Riess had moved all in, but in reality the 2013 WSOP Main Event champ had 4,700 back. The side pot was straightened out, and then Riess moved all in after Nestorovic checked the flop. Nestorovic called and all three players tabled their cards.
Stark:
Riess:
Nestorovic:
Stark was out in front with his set, but Nestorovic was leading for the sizable side pot, though Riess was drawing good to both a straight and flush draw. The turn was of no consequence, and neither was the river. Riess missed to fall to Nestorovic, while Stark tripled his stack in the main pot.
