Need Some Coaching

Nível 5 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Some of the players in the Big One have "hired" a coach. What exactly the role of a coach is, depends on the team. Vanessa Selbst, for example, is on the rail sweating every hand of David Einhorn, while the likes of Andrew Robl and Jean-Robert Bellande are playing cash games and don't really seem too involved at the moment. Here's the match-ups:

Set for Elton Tsang

Nível 5 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Elton Tsang raised to 80,000 from under the gun. Patrick Madden called from the cutoff.

The flop was {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Tsang continued for another 80,000. Madden raised to 180,000 and Tsang called.

Both players checked the {j-Diamonds} on the turn, and the river was the {2-Hearts}. Tsang led out for 300,000 and Madden quickly called.

Tsang tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a flopped set, and Madden mucked his cards.

Pantling Gets Some Back

Nível 6 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Andrew Pantling
Andrew Pantling

“How are you so good at poker?” Asked James Bord to Andrew Pantling a short time ago. The Canadian, who is the CEO of Matchbook, has some decent poker results on his résumé but had slipped to around half his starting stack by the time he got involved in a three-way pot.

It was Pantling himself who started the action, making it 75,000 to go, David Einhorn three-bet to 200,000, James Bord called out of the big blind and Pantling also called. On the {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, Einhorn continuation bet 350,000 and Pantling was the only caller. The {7-Diamonds} turn was checked through and the {10-Diamonds} fell on the river. Reasonably quickly Pantling bet 400,000 and Einhorn went into the tank before ultimately folding.

Nível 5 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

First to act, Dan Shak open raised to 80,000. Two positions down it was Brandon Steven raising to 200,000. Action folded back to Shak and he called.

Shak check-called a bet of {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and the two of them checked the {J-Clubs} on the turn. The {10-Hearts} completed the board and Shak bet 400,000. Steven thought about it for just a bit before releasing his hand into the muck.

Einhorn Brings the Pain

Nível 6 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

We've seen a lot of check-raising in this tournament so far and David Einhorn was the latest to pull off the trick. He opened to 100,000 and called after an in position Zuo Wang had three-bet to 300,000 total.

The two of them saw a {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{A-Clubs} flop, Einhorn checked, Wang bet out for 375,000 and Einhorn decided to check-raise to 900,000 straight. It didn't take Wang too long to release his cards and concede the pot to Einhorn.

David Einhorn Takes it on the River

Nível 6 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

David Einhorn raised to 100,000 from the button and Zuo Wang three-bet to 315,000 from the small blind. Einhorn called.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Wang continued for 240,000. Einhorn thought for a minute, then called.

The {5-Spades} fell on the turn and Zuo checked. Einhorn bet out 450,000 and Wang called. The river was the {q-Diamonds} and Wang checked again. Einhorn tossed out 1,100,000 and Wang went deep into the tank. After thinking for about three minutes, he folded his hand, and the dealer pushed the pot to Einhorn.

Garand Can't Call

Nível 6 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

With the clock running down to zero, Brandon Steven opened under the gun to 100,000. Action folded around to Pierre Garand in the big blind.

"One for the road" he said as he called while the other players started their 60-minute dinner break.

Garand bet out 200,000 on {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Steven called.

The {8-Spades} hit the turn and Garand, with a big smile, bet 350,000. Steven raised to 900,000 and Garand called.

With the {K-Spades} completing the board, Garand checked. Steven bet 910,000 and after some time thinking about it, Garand folded.
