Charlie "Epiphany77" Carrel Eliminated in 2nd Place ($140,835)

Half a dozen hands since the last clash took place and the chip count barely changed as Charlie "Epiphany77" Carrel was left with fewer than 1.5 million at his disposal. Jacob Schindler raised to 150,000 on the button and Carrel defended to see the {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop. Both players checked and did so again on the {q-Spades} turn, which led them to the {8-Spades} river.

Carrel now bet 245,700 with 1,066,408 behind and Schindler piled in a large bunch of virtual chips.

That sent Carrel into the think tank.

"slowroll?" Schindler inquired in table chat.
"Wtf you repping", Carrel replied.

"I mean the mood is right for it lol" was the follow-up by Schindler while Carrel took advantage of his remaining time bank. Eventually, the Brit called and Schindler rolled over the {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for two pair. Carrel only had {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a bluff catcher and that ended his run in 2nd place.

Jake Schindler Wins the 2021 SCOOP-100-H: $5,200 NLHE [8-Max, Final Freeze] ($181,517)

Seven hours and ten minutes after the first virtual cards were in the air, a champion was crowned in SCOOP-100-H: $5,200 NLHE [8-Max, Final Freeze]. The most expensive event that kicked off on the final day of 2021 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) drew a field of 183 entries and created a prize pool of $915,000. Once the final hand was completed, Jake Schindler emerged as the champion after denying Charlie "Epiphany77" Carrel another title.

Schindler's victory came with a payday of $181,517 and he earned the biggest slice of the prize pool in emphatic fashion. The American poker pro knocked out seven of the eight finalists and Carrel was the only one to also get involved in the proceedings. However, from the second hand on the final table, Schindler seemed destined to emerge as the champion and needed fewer than one hour to get the job done in steamrolling fashion.

Along the way, he knocked out Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis, Luiz "justholdplz" Duarte, Claas "ssicK_OnE" Segebrecht, Andras "probirs" Nemeth, Niklas "Lena900" Astedt, and Kyriakos "9cream4" Papadopoulos. Only the last chips of seventh place finisher "MATT HOLVIK" went to Carrel.

The Action of the Day

All participants in this event with an elevated price tag of $5,200 only had one shot at glory due to the freezeout format. It didn't take long for the action to pick up and the first contender busted in level two. Among the very early casualties were also Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos, Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi, Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, Dominik "Bounatirou" Nitsche, and Christoph "26071985" Vogelsang to name just some of poker's biggest names.

Just one-third of the field remained when the registration closed and Jake Schindler was among the first participants to reach more than one million in chips. Jargo "bungakat" Alavali flirted with the same feat after knocking out Davit "dpeters17" Peters in a big pot. It was also around that time when the sole PokerStars ambassador in the field, Parket "tonkaaaa" Talbot joined the big stacks.

However, for Talbot, there would be no happy end to the series as he was eliminated on the money bubble in a three-way all-in. Schindler was responsible for the double knockout and cemented his status as one of the chip leaders.

As the field raced towards the final table, Andras "probirs" Nemeth dispatched several opponents and was trailing Schindler by two big blinds only. The second hand of the final table left little doubt over the direction that would follow as Schindler knocked out Kyriakos "9cream4" Papadopoulos. With relentless aggression, he decimated the stacks of everyone that dared to put up resistance.

The lead of Schindler grew by the minute and it was just a matter of time until he collected all the chips. Once Niklas "Lena900" Astedt and Andras "probirs" Nemeth fell in eighth and sixth place respectively, Schindler was sitting on nearly two-thirds of the chips in play. And he needed just 13 minutes to dispatch every remaining opponent in dominating fashion.

That concludes the PokerNews live updates for the 2021 SCOOP but the next live and online poker events are just around the corner.
