2020 SCOOP Player of the Series Rui Ferreira Among the Chip Leaders After Day 1 of the 2020 PokerStars Stadium Series Grand Final - High $5,200 NLHE

Nível 23 : 30,000/60,000, 7,500 ante

The highly anticipated conclusion of the 2020 PokerStars Stadium Series featured Day 1 of the Freezeout Grand Final - High $5,200 NLHE Event and the ambitious guarantee of $5,000,000 was all but reached thanks to 971 unique entries.

No re-entry was allowed to give all qualifiers and direct buy-ins just one shot at glory. The first of three tournament days wrapped up with 119 players remaining right after the money bubble had burst as eight and a half hours had passed.

It was a close race for the overnight chip lead as Russia's "Goallinfishara" topped the leaderboard with 6,235,474 in chips, closely followed by "icgeo84" from the UK with 6,101,206 and Sadan "the_snail03" Turker with 5,630,858. Austria's "SmilleThHero" bagged up a top five stack with 5,206,149 after they busted Luke "lb6121" Schwartz only three spots away from the money with a rivered straight.

Two players in the top 10 counts in particular stand out from the rest of the crowd: 2020 SCOOP Player of the Series Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira carried over the momentum of the previous big tournament series on PokerStars and bagged up 5,059,827, good enough for seventh in chips. And long-time grinder Pascal "Päffchen" Hartmann finished the night two big blinds ahead with a stack of 5,169,779. Hartmann spent most of the day near the top of the counts after sending several opponents to the rail in the mid stages.

Another two well-known names of the international poker scene narrowly missed out on the overall top 10 as Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress (4,552,697) and Mike "gorodski" Gorodinsky (4,221,218) earned themselves an excellent chance at a big slice of the prize pool. Further notables well above the average include Vlada "Vlada2108" Stojanovic (4,599,556), Tatiana "Mysters_Y" Barausova (4,266,272), Henrik "hhecklen" Hecklen (3,252,562), Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi (2,952,954), and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Michael "imluckbox" Addamo (2,702,996).

The remaining field of Day 1 survivors contains plenty of other well-known poker pros such as Dimitar "KuuL" Danchev, Joao "IneedMassari" Simao, Ognyan "cocojamb0" Dimov, Marty "TheLipoFund" Mathis, Mike "SirWatts" Watson, Pedro "PaDiLhA SP" Padilha, Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet and Rafael "GM_VALTER" Moraes.

One of the weekly Sunday Final High tier winners also made the cut in Alisson "heyalisson" Piekazewicz, who advanced with 549,100. Michael "munchenHB" Telker and Parker "tonkaaaa" Talbot were less fortunate and the same also applied for all three of the three PokerStars ambassadors who entered the fray.

Ben "Spraggy" Spragg lost more than half of his stack early on and never recovered from that, eventually jamming ace-queen into pocket aces. Fintan "easywithaces" Hand suffered a very similar fate and came up short with king-ten versus ace-queen. For Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis the day started very promising as he scored an early double up and then earned a knockout with aces versus kings to flirt with the chip lead. However, the Dutchman also succumbed with a short stack eventually when ace-queen didn't get there to crack pocket queens.

No Day 2 for Lex Veldhuis despite a great start into the tournament

Many other big names of the international poker circuit were sent to the rail without anything to show for and the list of casualties reads like the who-is-who of live and online poker. Big names such as Andrey Pateychuk, Julian Thomas, Anton Wigg, Kelvin Kerber and aforementioned Schwartz came up short and the bubble burst when "Lavrik_mastr" ran with kings into the aces of Pablo "PabloPool12" Roman.

After a good night's sleep, the remaining 119 players will return to blinds of 30,000/60,000 with a running ante of 7,500 as the penultimate day continues on Monday August 3rd, 2020, as of 1.05 p.m. local time. They have locked up a min cash of $11,778 and surviving another day and reaching the final table would guarantee at least $67,991.50.

Day 2 of the Stadium Series Freezeout Grand Final - High $5,200 NLHE Event will play down to the final table. The PokerNews live reporting team will provide all the action from start to finish and you can also follow the cards-up coverage on a 30-minute delay with commentary on the PokerStars Twitch Channel.

"Lavrik-mastr" Bubbles; Day 1 Concludes

Nível 23 : 30,000/60,000, 7,500 ante

The first all-in and call on the money bubble was anti-climatic as "Lavrik-mastr" shipped it in for fewer than nine blinds from late position and was called by Pablo "PabloPool12" Roman in the small blind.

"Lavrik-mastr": {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Pablo "PabloPool12" Roman: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The classic kings versus aces setup brought no upset on a {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} board and that let the bubble burst, sending all 119 remaining players into the money and on break for the night.

Petrone Busts "JOKERATOR" and Greenwood

Nível 17 : 10,000/20,000, 2,500 ante
Str8$$$Homey eliminated by ramastar88
Str8$$$Homey eliminated by ramastar88

In two consecutive hands, Ramiro "ramastar88" Petrone has sent "JOKERATOR" and Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood to the rail in order to boost his stack.

"JOKERATOR": {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Ramiro "ramastar88" Petrone: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

It was s standard flip for a pot of 902,334 and the {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} board failed to improve "JOKERATOR".

One hand later, Petrone raised from the cutoff and called the shove of Greenwood from one seat over on the button.

Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood: {a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Ramiro "ramastar88" Petrone: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop gave Greenwood two pair and he remained in the lead on the {6-Spades} turn, however, the {6-Clubs} river improved Petrone to a winning flush.

PokerStars Gives an Insight Into Its Game Integrity Team

Nível 16 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
PokerStars Game Integrity
PokerStars Game Integrity

Protecting at the tables is one of PokerStars’ top priorities according to a video released on the world’s biggest online poker site’s YouTube channel.

Sadly, cheating and poker go hand-in-hand like eggs and ham. Cheaters will always look to make a quick buck whenever money is on the table. It’s one of the downsides of human nature.

Thankfully, the PokerStars Game Integrity team is on hand to prevent its players from all forms of cheating, be that collusion between two or more players, the use of banned software, and even tracking down “bots.”

Veldhuis Can't Crack Queens; Carnage Continues After

Nível 15 : 7,000/14,000, 1,750 ante

The short stack ride of Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis has eventually ended when he got it in preflop for a pot of 309,012 and was called by "Sindikat1" out of the small blind.

Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
"Sindikat1": {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board came {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Veldhuis had to leave empty-handed.

In the hands that followed, the action remained epic as Alisson "heyalisson" Piekazewicz doubled through "AmeNeYO" when his {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} cracked {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} on the {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades} board for a pot of more than 1 million.

"AmeNeYO" then doubled with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} against the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} of "Sindikat1" to get back up to a million as well.

Nível 12 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
mindgamer eliminated by Päffchen
mindgamer eliminated by Päffchen

Pascal "Päffchen" Hartmann has added even more chips to his stack after he sent Stefan "mindgamer" Jedlicka to the rail, who was at risk for fewer than 18 big blinds.

Stefan "mindgamer" Jedlicka: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Pascal "Päffchen" Hartmann: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board failed to improve Jedlicka.

A few hands later, Victor "VICTOR TXR1" Teixeira defended his big blind against Hartmann's button raise and check-shoved the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop for 11 blinds which Hartmann called in an instant.

Victor "VICTOR TXR1" Teixeira: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Pascal "Päffchen" Hartmann: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {10-Spades} turn and {a-Hearts} river were a formality.

Fintan Hand eliminated by Chus1979
Fintan Hand eliminated by Chus1979

Fintan "easywithaces" Hand jammed preflop several times without being called to keep his short stack alive but ultimately the PokerStars ambassador and streamer just ran out of chips.

Down to just shy of 13 blinds, he moved in from the button and was called by "Chus1979" in the big blind.

Fintan "easywithaces" Hand: {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}
"Chus1979": {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Hand had two live cards but the {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop reduced his outs. Only a king helped after the blank {8-Hearts} turn, yet the river was another blank in the {5-Clubs} to end his run.
