Day 1 of the inaugural PokerStars Festival Uruguay $3,300 High Roller kicked off at 6:00 p.m. local time on Thursday and a total of 44 entries took to the felt in pursuit of the top prize and trophy. Leading the way after six levels of play is Uruguayan player Martin Crosa, who bagged a stack of 171,700, and just behind him is Hugo Spangenberg with 159,500. They weren't the only players to more than double their 50,000 starting chips; Francisco Garcia (102,100) and Jesse Rosen (101,700) also bagged six-figure stacks at the conclusion of Day 1 play.

In addition to the big stacks, some other highly-accomplished players will return to the felt on Day 2, including PokerStars Team Pro Leo Fernandez (78,900) and WSOP bracelet winner Andres Korn (64,000). Korn is fresh off a victory in a side event here at the Conrad Hotel & Casino, Event #12 No-Limit Hold'em Unlimited Re-Entry, in which he banked a $15,260 payday. Unfortunately, several well-known and capable players who took to the felt in this event didn't survive the day. Among them was Brazilian star Hugo Marcelo, who hit the rail when he flopped a flush holding ten-eight only to run into the nut flush. However, with late registration open and unlimited re-entries available until the start of level 9 tomorrow, this is still absolutely anybody's tournament.

Day 2 will begin Friday at noon local time with blinds at 300/600 with a 100-chip ante. Late registration and re-entries will close at approximately 2:20 p.m. and the day will end when the final table is reached or at the discretion of tournament staff. The eventual champion is scheduled to be crowned on Saturday.

Keep it here for updates on the action in the PokerStars Festival Uruguay $3,300 High Roller, as well as the Main Event which will play down to a winner on Friday, presented by the PokerNews live reporting team.

Fabio Colonese raised to 1,100 from under the gun, the next player to act called, PokerStars Team Pro Leo Fernandez called from the button, and both blinds called, as well.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and action checked around to Fernandez. He bet 2,000, both blinds folded, as did Colonese, and the last remaining live player called.

The turn brought the {A-Hearts} and Fernandez's opponent checked. Fernandez bet 5,000 and his opponent called.

The {7-Spades} fell on the river and Fernandez's opponent checked again. Fernandez bet 10,000, putting his opponent to a decision for approximately half of his remaining chips. He went into the tank for just under a minute before he ultimately folded and Fernandez took the pot.

The PokerStars Festival $3,300 High Roller Begins Soon!

The Conrad Casino
The Conrad Casino

It's been an exciting week of poker so far here at the PokerStars Festival in Uruguay. While the Main Event is down to just 14 players, the $3,300 High Roller begins today and should see a slew of players returning for yet another shot. Some of the players expected to be in attendance include PokerStars Team Pro Leo Fernandez, PokerStars Cup Uruguay Winner Gustavo Prato, and World Series of Poker Bracelet Winner Andres Korn just to name a few. We can also expect some of the players who fall in the main event today to enter as well, as the cash prize for a bust out now is well over the buy-in for the High Roller.

Action kicks off at 6 p.m. local time here at the Conrad Casino and players will play six levels to kick off Day 1. Players will begin with 50,000 chips and players have the option of rebuying into this event as many times as they like. Registration will be open until level 9 which is scheduled to be the third level of Day 2. Blinds will kick off at 50/100 and each level will be 60 minutes long. The plan is to play six levels on Day 1, ten levels on Day 2, and down to a winner on Day 3.

It's just a short wait until action kicks off for this event so make sure to stay tuned as PokerNews will be here with live coverage for the entire event.
