Chartier More Than Doubles In First Hand

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Sam Chartier (photo from earlier this week)
Sam Chartier (photo from earlier this week)

Daniel Dvoress opened to 3,000 from middle position and Sam Chartier, who had just bought in and was playing his first hand, three-bet to 8,200 from the cutoff. Small blind Rafael Moraes cold four-bet to 25,000 with about 61,000 behind.

Action was back on Dvoress after the big bind folded and he pushed forward a stack worth well over 100,000 to put both players to the test. Chartier had 49,800 to start the hand after paying the 200 ante and called all in. Moraes tanked for a bit before tossing his cards into the muck.

Daniel Dvoress: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Sam Chartier: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

"You got spades," Chartier said.

"If it makes you feel any better," McDonald added, "I had spades."

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Dvoress parted ways with a big portion of his chips.

The Gong Show

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jiachen Gong
Jiachen Gong

Jiachen Gong was under the gun and raised to 2,800. Action folded around to Aleks Dimitrov in the cutoff and he three-bet to 7,400. Gong called.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Gong checked. Dimitrov paused for a moment and decided to check back.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}. Gong led out for 12,500. Dimitrov didn't think long before calling.

The river was the {2-Hearts}. Gong went into the tank and eventually led out for 21,000. Dimitrov called fairly quickly, but found out he was dominated when Gong tabled {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Chidwick Takes a Big Bite out of Bittar

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

A big pot was brewing in the middle of the room on a board reading {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. There was about 35,000 in the pot, and Stephen Chidwick shoved his remaining 47,000 in the middle from the big blind.

Kamal Abdel Bittar was under the gun and had a decision to make for about two thirds of his stack.

After a few minutes, a player at the table called the clock. When the tournament director began to count down from ten, Bittar decided to call.

Chidwick tabled {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} for trip jacks with a king kicker. Bittar mucked his cards.

Greenwood Continues to Grow

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Francois Billard was in the cutoff and raised to 3,500. Sam Greenwood called on the button, as did Daniel Dvoress in the small blind.

Troy Quenneville was in the big blind and decided to three-bet to 15,200. Billard folded and Greenwood thought for a minute before deciding to call. Dvoress folded.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Quenneville led out for 17,200. Greenwood called.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds}. Quenneville quickly checked. Greenwood went into the tank for a full minute before deciding to bet 18,000. Quenneville instantly folded.

Greenwood is still the chip leader in this last level of the night.

Adams Doubles

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We're not entirely sure when and how the chips went in, but we did see Adams receiving a full double. His {8-Spades}{4-Clubs} from the big blind was too strong for Greenwood's {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} on a board of {3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{A-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Adams received 45,900 from Greenwood and now plays just under 100,000.

"Fair Enough, Well Played!"

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

From early position, Patrick Serda opened to 4,000. Jason Koon in the cutoff bumped the action to 12,300 and Serda was the only caller.

Serda check-called a bet of 14,500 on {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} before checking again on the {8-Hearts} turn. Koon announced all in and Serda asked for a count. It turned out Koon had 63,800 and Serda called.

Patrick Serda: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Jason Koon: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The river {4-Spades} was a blank and Koon got up, still a bit in awe.

"Fair enough," Koon said with a sincere voice, "Well played!"

Fernandez Flips

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Leo Fernandez
Leo Fernandez

Leo Fernandez got his remaining 35,300 chips in the middle and was called by Troy Quenneville.

Fernandez: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Quenneville: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

It was a classic flip, and the board ran out {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Fernandez caught both of his cards on the turn and then the river for good measure, giving him a late double up.
