Dong Guo Eliminated in 10th Place (HK$291,300)

Nível 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Dong Guo
Dong Guo

Action folded around to Xuan Tan in the small blind. Tan asked to see how many chips short-stacked Dong Guo had, Guo moved his chips in front of his cards, and the floor was called, thinking Guo's gesture was an aggressive action.

Guo stated that he was just trying to show what he had left. Tan made things easy by placing a stack of chips in the middle, signaling a raise worth more than Guo had behind.

Guo, who had just a couple big blinds, said "OK," and pushed his chips forward.

Guo: {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Tan: {4-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and, with that, Guo was eliminated and an unofficial final table of nine has been set.

Guo received HK$291,300 for his 10th-place finish.

Fabrice Soulier

Just after the final table got underway and in the very last hand of the level, Fabrice Soulier shipped in the last of his stack from early position. Aymon Hata was up for the call, doing so from the cutoff.

Soulier: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Hata: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Soulier was in rough shape against the chip leader, and no miracle cards came on the board of {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Soulier was eliminated in ninth place for HK$386,000 and Hata added to his chip lead, pulling away from the rest of the players.

Tang and Tan Tangle

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Tianyuan Tang
Tianyuan Tang

We just watched three hands in a row that had huge pots in every single one. The other common denominator? Tianyuan Tang and Xuan Tan were involved in all three.

Tang Shows the Bluff

Aymon Hata raised to 110,000 from the button and Xuan Tan called in the small blind. But Tang had other plans and he three-bet to 350,000.

Action came back to Hata who four-bet to 770,000. Tan snap-folded, shaking his head and moaning, "So sick."

Tang wasn't done yet. He five-bet pushed all in over the top and Hata instantly folded.

"Show the bluff," the rail yelled and Tang obliged by turning over {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Hata grinned as he saw a heap of his chips go to Tang, along with the title of chip leader.

Tang Sets Up

In the next hand, Tan raised to 110,000 from the button and got a call from Tang in the small blind and Avraham Oziel in the big blind.

The flop came {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and all players checked, bringing out the {q-Spades} turn. That was checked through as well, revealing the river of {10-Hearts}. All three players checked once again. Tang flipped over {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered set that he couldn't entice anyone to bet into.

Li Lets It Go

In the third hand in a row, Tan bet 110,000 from the cutoff and Tang called again. Yan Li also called, doing so from the big blind.

The flop was {j-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Li checked. Tan bet 175,000 and Tang figured he'd used up his luck, releasing his hand. Li called.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and both players checked. The river came {4-Spades} and Li checked again. Tan bet out 350,000 and Li thought intently for half a minute before folding.

A sick bad beat on the river has brought the Main Event seven-handed.

Xuan Tan opened to 135,000 from early position and Tianyuan Tang three-bet to 400,000, one seat over. Action folded back around to Tan who moved all-in for about 1,500,000. Tang made the call.

Tang: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Tan: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Tan was in great shape to score a massive double as the dealer begin to spread the flop. The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and Tang spiked a queen on the river to eliminate Tan. Tan banked HK$386,000 for eighth place.

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Yan Li
Yan Li

Yan Li opened with a raise to 125,000 from under the gun and Elliot Smith reraised to 300,000 from the cutoff. Action folded around the table to fall back on Li and she pushed all in. Smith quickly called.

Li: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Smith: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Li was in rough shape and needing to catch a card. However, her chances became even thinner when the window card gave Smith a set. The board fell {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Li's championship homes came to an end in seventh place for HK$521,000.

With her elimination, Day 5 has come to an end with the final six players currently bagging chips.

Elliot Smith Leads Final Six Into PokerStars Championship Macau Final Table

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The PokerStars Championship Macau Main Event is down to a final table of six players with Canadian Elliot Smith leading the way.

It was a day that began with 16 players returning to the tables in the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room in City of Dreams. Less than seven hours later, just six remained with their eye on the HK$3,130,000 first-place prize and the title of PokerStars Champion — only the third since the new tour began.

Final Table Lineup

1Ayman Hata1,970,000
2Tianyuan Tang4,500,000
3Avraham Oziel1,735,000
4Yen Chen1,170,000
5Elliot Smith4,585,000
6Daniel Laidlaw1,855,000

The day began with Aymon Hata holding the chip lead. He lost his grasp on that lead throughout the day, but he had it again as the field consolidated to one final table. With nine players left, he held 2,950,000.

Hata added to his lead when he took out Fabrice Soulier just minutes into the final table. Hata’s {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} held on against Soulier’s {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Soulier was eliminated in ninth place for HK$386,000. Hata chipped up to 4,150,000.

However, Tianyuan Tang had his eye on those chips, and he challenged the giant in an enormous pot where the two got in a preflop betting war. It ended with Tang five-bet shoving over Hata’s raise to 770,000 and getting a fold from his opponent. Then he showed {8-Clubs}{9-Spades} as he pulled in the heap of chips.

Tang didn’t keep the lead for long though. Elliot Smith got involved in a pot with Tang to take away a big chunk of chips. Smith bet out on the turn with a board of {6-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Tang folded after a a few minutes of thought, giving the chip lead to Smith.

Xuan Tan was the eighth-place finisher when he got it all in preflop against Tang and his {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} failed to hold against Tan’s {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} when Tang hit a queen on the river. Tan collected HK$386,000 for eighth place.

The day ended with Yan Li opening to 125,000 from under the gun and Elliot Smith three-bet to 300,000. Li jammed all in and Smith made the quick call, showing {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} over Li’s {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. A queen appeared in the window to improve Smith to a set. Li was eliminated in seventh place for HK$521,000.

With just six players remaining, they bagged chips for a final day. They’ll return for Day 6 on Sunday to play down to a winner. The PokerNews live reporting team will be back to do hand-for-hand coverage all day, so follow along for every action right here on this page.
