Badziakouski Doubles After Break

One of the first hands back after the break saw Belarusian Mikita Badziakouski earn a double-up at the expense of Bulgaria’s Viliyan Petleshkov. Action folded around to Petleshkov in the small blind and he glanced over at Badziakouski’s stacks, which was around 42,000, and moved all-in.

Badziakouski beat him into the pot and the cards were turned over.

Yu Triples as Alvarado Departs; Speed Bump for Bansal

Ryan Yu moved all in for his last 23,500 and JC Alvarado did so from one seat over for 28,000. Ben Lai called and the rest of the table folded. While the trio turned over their cards, Yu said "I like my hand right now." after finding himself with two live cards.

The flop came and Yu picked up an open-ended straight draw, which got there with the turn. Sammartino had a flush draw, but the river was a blank. Yu tripled up and Lai won the small side pot to eliminate Alvarado.

Raghav Bansal had built his stack further since the last break and just now had Van Sang Nguyen at risk with versus . Nguyen however spiked the on the flop and doubled to around starting stack.

Petrangelo’s Revenge

HK$206,000 Single Re-Entry Shot Clock Champion Quan Zhou has just departed the tournament area with US pro Nick Petrangelo administering the coup de grace after the two clashed in a battle of the blinds.

In an ironic reversal of roles where Zhou had over a 3-1 chip lead when play come down to heads up in the first of the HK$206,000 Re-Entry Shot Clock events, the Chinese player found himself short and at the same table as Petranglo once more.

Possibly looking for some payback Petrangelo moved all-in from the small blind, easily having Zhou’s paltry 40,000 stack covered and the Chinese pro made the call for his tournament life.

“Gamble?” quizzed Petrangelo, before rolling over .

“No gamble” replied Zhou, turning over .

While Zhou may not be gambling with garbage it is still a coin flip, one that he lost when the board ran out to give Petrangelo top two and send the Chinese player crashing out of the tournament.

Other recent casualties include Fabian Quoss, Weizhou Zha, Valdimir Troyanovskiy, Viliyan Petleshkov and Wu Huihan bringing the total number of remaining players down to 48.

Ben Lai raised to 8,500 and Ying Kit Chan called from one seat over. Morten Mortensen then moved all in for his last 29,500 on the button and Lai eventually folded, Chan quickly called.

The flop of gave Chan top pair and Mortensen a set, and the Dane had locked up the double on the turn, making the river a formality.

One hand later, Chan opem-shoved for 49,500 and the action reached Ryan Yu on the button. The Canadian gave it plenty of thought and eventually folded, admitted in table chat he had king-queen suited. John Juanda in the big blind however quickly called and put Chan at risk.

Alner Wins Blind Versus Blind

We caught Brit Tom Alner involved in a battle of the blinds against Michael Egan with the board reading just as the landed on the turn with over 20,000 in blinds and antes in the pot.

Sitting in the small blind Egan fired for 11,000 only to see Alner come over the top for a bet of 30,000.

The shot clock ticked down to 10-seconds before Egan threw in the call and the dealer completed the hand with the pairing the board.

Egan quickly checked and Alner looked torn between checking and betting. Time ticked away and eventually the Brit checked with just 1-second to spare.

Egan turned over for two pairs, but this was not enough to beat Alner’s flopped flush and he climbed to 110,000 while Egan dropped down to roughly 100,000.

Tang Flushes Out Chen

A short-stacked Canlin Chen opened the action with an early position raise to 7,000 and looked to have a little less than 45,000 behind. Action folded around to Danny Tang in the big blind and with chips to spare he tossed out the call.

The flop fell a monochrome and the action was checked around to bring in the turn. This is where the fireworks happened with Chen moving the last of his chips in and Tang making the call immediately.

Chen turned over but with no diamond in hand found himself drawing dead against Tang’s flopped flush and we lose one more as Tang stacked up his newly won chips to climb to 220,000.

Another recent casualty is Ryan Yum and while we missed his exit hand we can tell you with certainty that his tournament is now over.

Dvoress Remains in the Top Spot

Shuo Li raised to 7,000 and Daniel Dvoress then three-bet to 21,000 from the hijack. Li called and the duo headed to a flop of , which Li checked. Dvoress continued for 23,000 and Li let the clock run down to just a few seconds, grabbed chips for a call and moved them forward.

They were still in the air and almost crossed the imaginary betting line, then Li pulled them back and folded. Dan Smith reminded him to be careful with this kind of moves and the table carried on with the next hand. Dvoress has just over 600,000 and appears to be the chip leader.

The Action Slows Down

Almost half of today's field has been eliminated in the first three levels and the action was bound to slow down at some point. Jack Salter has recently been eliminated while Morten Mortensen got through with a jam against Dario Sammartino and John Juanda.

Ryan Yu also scooped a pot without showdown after shoving a river of the board from early position against Ben Lai for 85,500. There were slightly less in the middle and Lai eventually folded.

Felipe Ramos won a small pot in a battle of the blinds with Raghav Bansal, the PokerStars Team Pro bet the for 4,500 and Bansal called before the went check, check. Ramos showed and Bansal mucked the . Ramos then handed over his smartphone for Bansal to write down the name, and both got into friendly table chat.

Peters Puts Freeze on Tanaka

Shinobu Tanaka has found himself back on his initial 50,000-entry stack after tangling in a hand with David Peters.

Pre-flop it was Peters who opened the action with a raise to 9,000 from the button and a suspicious Tanaka chose to look him up from the big blind to take play heads-up to the flop.

Tanaka checked it over to Peters who led out for an enticing 6,500 c-bet, and the Japanese player decided to see if Peters actually had anything and min-raised to 13,000. It looked like he might have as Peters made the call to bring play to the river.

Tananka checked and after thinking it over for a bit, so did Peters and the hands were turned over. While Tanaka’s had caught a little piece of the flop his bottom pair could not best Peters and the US player froze Tanaka out of the hand and raked in the pot.
