Quenneville Takes from Chen

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

James Chen raised from the button and Troy Quenneville came along from the button. The usual Chen aggression kicked off and Quenneville check-called a bet on the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop and did so again for 55,000 on the {10-Spades} turn.

Quenneville also checked the {9-Clubs} river and Chen fired massive 155,000. Quenneville eventually called and then saw Chen turn over {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a pair of fives only. Quenneville had that beat with {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and claimed a big pot.

Wang Doubles Through Bansal

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Raghav Bansal raised to 14,000 from the cutoff and Zhong Wang moved all in from one seat over. The blinds got out of the way and Bansal then asked for a count. The shove was for 71,500 in total and Bansal eventually called.

Zhong Wang: {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Raghav Bansal: {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Wang stood up from his chair for the showdown and saw the flop fall {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The {A-Spades} on the turn locked up the double and the meaningless {K-Diamonds} river completed the board.

Mortensen First Casualty in the Money

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Morten Mortensen
Morten Mortensen

After a raise to 13,000 by Adrian Attenborough, Dan Smith three-bet from the button and the action reached short stack Morten Mortensen in the big blind. The Dane shoved for around 65,000 and Attenborough quickly folded, Smith called even faster.

Morten Mortensen: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Dan Smith: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

On the {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, Smith grabbed some chips and was ready to pay off a double, but the {J-Clubs} on the turn caused some gasps as Smith had found the better set. A blank {Q-Clubs} on the river sent Mortensen to the rail and he takes home HK$175,000.

Kozlov Next to Fall

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Martin Kozlov
Martin Kozlov

Troy Quenneville opened the action with a raise from the cutoff and Martin Kozlov shoved for 134,000 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, and Quenneville called to put Kozlov at risk.

Martin Kozlov: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Troy Quenneville: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Kozlov had gotten it in with the best of it, but the {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop saw Quenneville improve to a pair of queens. Things got infinitely worse on the {Q-Hearts} turn, as Kozlov was left drawing dead. An already insignificant {K-Hearts} on the river completed the board and Kozlov had to settle for the min cash.

Double for Li

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Dan Smith opened the action with a raise to 15,000 from early position and Shuo Li made the call before Daniel Dvoress re-popped it to 48,500.

Smith thought it over but folded and action was back on Li who moved all-in for 120,000. Dvoress called quickly and the cards were turned over.

Shuo Li: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Daniel Dvoress: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Li was in front and stayed that way when the board ran out {7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to grant the Chinese player the double-up.

Chen Eliminates Yurasov

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

While we missed all of the carnage Dmitry Yurasov had just become the latest paying casualty with Taiwan’s James Chen the man to show the Russian the door.

Chen was kind enough to fill us in on the details and told us Yurasov moved the last of his chips in with ace-jack and he made the call with king-queen.

Chen flopped top two pair when the flop came down {k-}{q-}{3-} and there was no ten or ace on the turn or river and that brings the field down to 24.

Luo Doubles Through Wang

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Xixiang Luo raised to 14,000 and Yang Wang three-bet to 40,000 out of the big blind while the table was about to break for the redraw of the last 24. Luo then four-bet to 110,000 and Wang five-bet shoved for effectively half his stack. Luo called and both players tabled pocket pairs.

Xixiang Luo: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Yang Wang: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

After a board of {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}, Luo doubled for 226,000 and Wang had about as much left.
