Dvoress Busts to Attenborough

Nível 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Michael Addamo raised it up to 18,000 and Daniel Dvoress moved all in for the last 78,000 from the button. Adrian Attenborough sat in the big blind and gave it some consideration, then moved all in himself for around 300,000. Addamo got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Daniel Dvoress: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Adrian Attenborough: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Attenborough started cutting out the chips to pay off his opponent and then the flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to give the Aussie a set. On the {8-Hearts} turn, nothing much changed and the {2-Clubs} river officially ended the tournament of Dvoress in 18th place for HL$210,000.

Ramos Hits the Rail

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Felipe Ramos
Felipe Ramos

With the departure of Felipe Ramos there are now no PokerStars Team Pros left in the field with Sergey Lebedev sending the Brazilian to the rail.

Ramos was the aggressor in the hand, opening to 14,000 from middle position before Lebedev re-raised to 40,000 in total from the hi-jack. The rest of the table quickly got out of the way and Ramos moved all-in for what looked to be around 350,000 with Lebedev calling instantly without even asking for a count.

The cards were turned over and Ramos, holding {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, found himself racing for his tournament life against Lebedev’s {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Unfortunately for Ramos the flop came down {8-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{3-Spades} to see Lebedev pair his ace to take a lead he would not relinquish when the {7-Spades} turn and {5-Diamonds} ran out to complete the hand, with the Russian stacking up to 777,000 when the dust settled.

Kozlov Next to Fall

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Martin Kozlov
Martin Kozlov

Troy Quenneville opened the action with a raise from the cutoff and Martin Kozlov shoved for 134,000 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, and Quenneville called to put Kozlov at risk.

Martin Kozlov: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Troy Quenneville: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Kozlov had gotten it in with the best of it, but the {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop saw Quenneville improve to a pair of queens. Things got infinitely worse on the {Q-Hearts} turn, as Kozlov was left drawing dead. An already insignificant {K-Hearts} on the river completed the board and Kozlov had to settle for the min cash.

Zdravko Duvnjak Is the Bubble Boy

Nível 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Bubble Boy Zdravko Duvnjak
Bubble Boy Zdravko Duvnjak

Down to his last 23,000 in chips as the tournament’s shortest stack Croatia’s Zdravko Duvnjak moved all-in on the very first hand of hand-for-hand for the very last hand of level 15.

Sosia Jiang made the call from the button and both players had to spend an agonizing few minutes waiting in suspense while the hands played out on the other three tables before the cards could be turned over.

“Good news,” Jiang told Duvnjak, “I have not busted any short stacks for the entire tournament.”

Duvnjak did not look reassured, but then it was his tournament life on the line. Eventually, the cards are turned over and Duvnjak found himself in trouble.

Zdravko Duvnjak: {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Sosia Jiang: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The flop came down {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} to further extend Jiang’s lead but the turn was the very sweaty {10-Spades} to give Duvnjak flush outs in addition to the decks two remaining tens. Unfortunately, the river was the {a-Diamonds} and Duvnjak headed for the rail empty handed while the 27 remaining High Rollers have all locked up at least HK$175,000.

Juanda Misses Out on the Money

Nível 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

John Juanda shoved for around 45,000 from the button and the action folded to James Chen in the big blind, who called. Both had to wait while there was another showdown on a different table before the cards were turned over.

John Juanda: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
James Chen: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop of {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades} gave Chen trips queens while Juanda had to hope for a ten or running hearts. After the {6-Diamonds} turn, there were just four outs remaining, and the {7-Hearts} river was a blank. The remaining four tables will now get balanced before play will resume.

Peters Done for the Day in Two Hands

Nível 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
David Peters
David Peters

Hand 1

Raghav Bansal raised to 12,000 and David Peters called in the big blind. On a flop of {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Peters check-called a continuation bet and checked again the {Q-Diamonds} turn. Bansal now made it 24,000 to go and Peters called before the {5-Diamonds} river completed a potential back door flush.

Peters checked the third street in a row and Bansal bet big, for 90,000. Peters called and mucked when Bansal flashed {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a full house.

Hand 2

Sergey Lebedev raised from the button and Peters shoved for around 110,000 in the small blind, which Lebedev quickly called.

David Peters: {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Sergey Lebedev: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The board of {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs} gave Peters a sweat, but ultimately his straight draw didn't complete to eliminate the American.

Chen Busts Alner to Join the Big Stacks

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
James Chen
James Chen

James Chen faced a raise to 9,000 by Tom Alner and three-bet to 25,000, which Alner then met with a reraise to 69,000. Chen called and the flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Alner checked and subsequently called a bet worth 35,000 by Chen before checking again on the {5-Spades} turn.

Chen now made it 76,000 to go and Alner eventually moved all in for 99,500 in total. Chen was surprised for a second and asked how much more he had to call, then said "I guess you must have it," and called.

Tom Alner: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
James Chen: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The {7-Clubs} on the river was a blank and Alner was eliminated. In table chat, Chen said "I play with him a lot, and he knows that I bluff here often." Two-times Red Dragon champion Alner joined the rail, while Chen boosted his stack to more than 600,000 as a result.

Boskovic Busts with a Bang

Nível 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Mikita Badziakouski and Dejan Boskovic Jr are both out
Mikita Badziakouski and Dejan Boskovic Jr are both out

Mikita Badziakouski lost the fight with his short stack and he was soon joined on the rail by Ivan Deyra, Michael Egan and Dejan Boskovic Jr. The latter left the tournament area with a bang. Danny Tang opened to 9,500 and Boskovic three-bet to 26,000 from one seat over. Tang squeezed to 45,000 and then had one of the easiest calls in his poker career to date when Boskovic five-bet shoved for around 120,000.

Boskovic Jr showed ace-queen and Tang had that dominated with {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. The board of {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} changed nothing whatsoever and Boskovic Jr was eliminated.

One hand later, Yang Wang raised to 10,000 and Tang flat-called from one seat over. The flop came {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and a bet worth 17,500 by Wang did the trick to force a fold, Wang moved up to almost half a million in chips.

Petrangelo’s Revenge

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

HK$206,000 Single Re-Entry Shot Clock Champion Quan Zhou has just departed the tournament area with US pro Nick Petrangelo administering the coup de grace after the two clashed in a battle of the blinds.

In an ironic reversal of roles where Zhou had over a 3-1 chip lead when play come down to heads up in the first of the HK$206,000 Re-Entry Shot Clock events, the Chinese player found himself short and at the same table as Petranglo once more.

Possibly looking for some payback Petrangelo moved all-in from the small blind, easily having Zhou’s paltry 40,000 stack covered and the Chinese pro made the call for his tournament life.

“Gamble?” quizzed Petrangelo, before rolling over {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

“No gamble” replied Zhou, turning over {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

While Zhou may not be gambling with garbage it is still a coin flip, one that he lost when the board ran out {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} to give Petrangelo top two and send the Chinese player crashing out of the tournament.

Other recent casualties include Fabian Quoss, Weizhou Zha, Valdimir Troyanovskiy, Viliyan Petleshkov and Wu Huihan bringing the total number of remaining players down to 48.

The Sun is Shining for Dvoress

Nível 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Daniel Dvoress and Nick Petrangelo
Daniel Dvoress and Nick Petrangelo

Liwei Sun raised to 5,500 from under the gun and Paul-Francois Tedeschi three-bet to 13,800 from one seat over. The action folded around to Daniel Dvoress in the big blind, who four-bet to 31,000. Sun moved all in for 43,000 and Tedeschi folded, while Dvoress called in a heartbeat.

Liwei Sun: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Daniel Dvoress: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The board came {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Sun headed to the rail.

That hand boosted the stack of Dvoress to around 400,000, but it would get even better. Only a few minutes later, another chair was vacated and Dan Smith and Daniel Dvoress confirmed that Sofia Lovgren ran with pocket jacks into the pocket queens of the Canadian to ran out of chips as well.
