In a preflop three-bet pot with continuation bet on the flop, Juan Pardo and Isaac Haxton continued to the turn. Pardo fired a bet of 25,000 out of the big blind into a pot of just over 100,000 and that eventually forced out Haxton.
Three ways to the turn, Adrian Mateos in the big blind, Mikita Badziakouski, and Kathy Lehne on the button all invested 3,500 in chips. The river was checked to Lehne and she pushed all in.
Mateos got out of the way and Badziakouski sighed before coming to the same conclusion.
Nick Petrangelo in the big blind check-called a bet worth 30,000 by Mikita Badziakouski with the completed board reading . Once more there was no showdown as Badziakouski in the under-the-gun position mucked his cards to forfeit the pot.
Over on table two, Justin Bonomo checked the turn and then called a 20,500 bet by Timothy Adams. Both checked the river and Bonomo tabled the . Adams held the superior kicker with the to win the pot.
Last but not least, Seth Davies bet 50,000 on the river. Steve O'Dwyer reluctantly called and was good with the as Davies was caught bluffing.
During the late stages of the previous level with the same blinds, David Peters earned some chips back when his turned trip aces and he was paid off by Isaac Haxton. Nothing much changed since then except that Juan Pardo added a few chips.
The latest hand saw an open raise to 4,000 by Haxton and Peters defended the big blind. On the flop, Peters checked and let go once Haxton bet 3,000.
Mikita Badziakouski was moved over to table three to balance the field after the departure of Jonathan Jaffe and got involved in the action right away. Three ways to the river, Nick Petrangelo checked out of the small blind and Badziakouski bet 28,000 in the big blind.
Daniel Dvoress verified the bet size and the dealer repeated a bet of 27,000, which Dvoress called by tossing in two chips worth 30,000 total.
"He said twenty eight," Petrangelo instantly chimed in after his fold and that was confirmed by Badziakouski. There was no showdown after as Badziakouski simply sent his cards into the muck, awarding the pot to the early chip leader.
Heads-up to the turn, Talal Shakerchi checked his option and then called a bet of 13,000 by Timothy Adams. Shakerchi checked again on the river. Adams grabbed all but one of his chips and overbet for 137,000 with a single T-500 chip left behind.
Shakerchi didn't even remotely consider asking for a count as he snap-folded within a fraction of a second.
Jonathan Jaffe was one of the High Roller tournament winners during the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure but he has become the first casualty during this high-stakes competition.
In a duel button versus big blind, he faced a large bet on the river when early chip leader Daniel Dvoress pushed forward his T-25,000 denominations. Jaffe had what appeared to be 60,000 behind and called it off to get shown the by Dvoress.
That beat the of the American pro and he quickly departed from the tournament area.
Over on table one, two players have been able to increase their stacks early on Day 1 and that includes Juan Pardo and Steve O'Dwyer. The former had taken a chunk out of David Peters while O'Dwyer had chipped up since then.
The latest hand included a button raise to 4,000 by O'Dwyer and Pardo called. Nothing major happened thereafter as Pardo check-folded the flop to a bet worth 7,500.
With 20,500 in the middle to the flop, Talal Shakerchi check-called a bet worth 5,000 by Justin Bonomo and that led them to the turn. Shakerchi now check-raised from 12,000 to 33,000 and Bonomo tossed in calling chips.
The river completed the board and Shakerchi made it 52,000 to go. That represented half of the stack of Bonomo, who used one time bank and called. Shakerchi rolled over the for trips jacks and left Bonomo with a shorter stack.
