Sontheimer Wisely Checks the River

Igor Kurganov raised to 4,500 from early position and Steffen Sontheimer came along for the ride on the button. The flop came and Kurganov continued for 7,000. Sontheimer called and the rolled off on the turn.

Kurganov fired another 14,000, only to have Sontheimer raise to 41,000. Kurganov called and the paired the board on the river. Kurganov quickly checked and Sontheimer instantly snapped his fingers to signal a check as well. Kurganov tabled for a full house and Sontheimer just laughed as he mucked his cards.
