Steve O'Dwyer raised to 132,000 and Jaime Staples three-bet to 540,000 out of the small blind.

Justus Held gasped a long "oooooooooooffff" in the big blind and then jammed for 641,780, O'Dwyer folded and Staples called the few chips extra.

Held flopped the top two pair on and remained ahead on the turn. However, the fell on the river and Staples improved to the ace-high straight.

In the meanwhile, Mikita Badziakouski has disappeared. He got it in with jacks against the kings of Pedro Padilha and low cards only appeared to end Day 1a for Badziakouski much earlier than he was hoping for.
