Brian Yoon Bags Heaps After Day 2A of the $5,300 Main Event

Nível 16 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Brain Yoon
Brain Yoon

The first of two Day 2s have come to an end at the partypoker MILLIONS North America $5,300 Main Event in Montreal, Canada. It was an eventful day that saw a total of 501 players take their seat at the felt and only 132 managed to survive. Brian Yoon started to run away the chip lead mid-way through the day and never looked back.

Yoon bagged himself an impressive 24,910,000 chips, and he surprisingly held roughly that many chips when the dinner break arrived. The California native has claimed over $4.5 million in career tournament earnings with his largest cash coming last summer at the 2017 WSOP. Yoon captured his third gold bracelet when he won the $1,500 Monster Stack for a whopping $1,094,349. It seems as though he has a special skill set to work his way through large-tournament fields.

A couple other big stacks to find success throughout the day were Michael Gathy (19,270,000) and Hagop Ketendjian (17,200,000), who have both had plenty of success in their poker career. Josh Trott (16,100,000) and Brian Morgan (15,545,000) round out the top five chip counts.

There were many familiar names at each and every table that made for quite the eventful day of poker. Unfortunately for some, they were unable to run up a stack and busted both bullets before late registration closed. There were plenty of others that fell by the wayside as the last few levels winded down. Some of those names include Martin Jacobson, Chance Kornuth, Ari Engel, Darren Elias, Alex Foxen, and Mohsin Charania.

The day ended with a total of 132 players moving on to Day 3 when the tournament director decided to cut the day short by one level. The eliminations were coming at such a rapid pace, they chose to stop play after eight levels to ensure the money bubble would not be reached. Among those moving on to Day 3 include partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton (2,290,000), partypoker Sponsored Pros Kristen Bicknell (7,790,000), Roberto Romanello (8,100,000), and Richard Dubini (6,480,000), Paul Michaelis (13,155,000), Ema Zajmovic (11,700,000), and defending champion Jean-Pascal Savard (3,890,000).

For those that are looking for another shot at the $10,000,000 guaranteed prizepool, Day 2B will be running on Sunday beginning at 12:00 PM EST. Late registration will remain open until the end of level 12 at which point it will officially be closed for good. Players will be allowed one re-entry on the day in order to run up their biggest possible stack.

Bicknell Making Use of Her Second Bullet

Nível 14 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

Kristen Bicknell started the day after using just one bullet to get through on Day 1A, but things didn't work out so well to start. The partypoker Sponsored Pro busted earlier in the day and was forced to re-enter. Things have been going much better even though she finds herself at one of the toughest tables in the room.

The action folded to Bicknell on the button who raised to 200,000 and was called by Jonathan Duhamel in the small blind and Marvin Rettenmaier in the big blind. The flop came {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades} and the action checked to Bicknell who continued for 250,000. Duhamel called while Rettenmaier folded.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and Duhamel checked to Bicknell again who bet 650,000. Duhamel stuck around to see the {5-Hearts} on the river. He checked one more time and Bicknell shoved all in. She put Duhamel to the test for his last 1,700,000 but he elected to fold after a couple of minutes.

MacPhee Gets a Hold of Sicko

Nível 12 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

Joseph Sicko came into the day as one of the big stacks of over 6,000,000 chips and for the longest was the table captain, working his way up over 10,000,000. However, with Kevin MacPhee at his table, there was always the chance of the two players colliding in a massive pot, and that they did.

The board read {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{A-Spades} and the action was on Sicko who bet 425,000 into a pot of over 600,000. MacPhee check-raised to 1,555,000 and Sicko made the call. The river brought the {q-Hearts} and MacPhee slid in a bet of 2,500,000. Sicko counted out the chips to call but the decision of what to do wasn't going to come quickly. After nearly five minutes of being in the tank, Sicko finally pushed his chips in to call and MacPhee tabled {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a full house. Sicko mucked his cards and MacPhee suddenly became the largest stack at the table.

Yorra Eliminates Bicknell with a Set

Nível 10 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

On a board reading {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, the action was on Matthew Yorra on the button. He slid in a bet of 1,300,000 into a pot of around 1,100,000. Kristen Bicknell was his opponent in the big blind and she had around 950,000 chips remaining in front of her.

Bicknell counted out her chips and thought for a brief moment before tossing in a chip to signify a call. Yorra tabled {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for a set of sevens while Bicknell could only muster two pair with {k-}{4-}. Bicknell was sent to the rail but will likely be hitting the registration desk for another bullet today.
