German Poker Championship €2,200 Main Event champion Arsenii Karmatckii was spotted all in and at risk for 604,000 on a flop of when facing a bet of his table neighbor for 310,000 with a pot of 320,000. Karmatckii was called and turned over while the opponent had the . The turn and river changed nothing whatsoever and the Russian doubled.
Teun Kooij was eliminated from the tournament by Guy Goossens and recounted to us what had happened:
"I had suited in the under-the-gun position and raised to 80,000. Guy Goossens called on the button with , the player in the small blind shoved for 280,000 with offsuit. I reshove for 1,200,000 in total. Goossens called with the smaller stack. Goossens won."Then he took me out with fours against ace-eight."
Chi Zhang and Tobias Ziegler were on the final table of the €50,000 Super High Roller and Ziegler was ousted by Zhang in 4th place while the latter went on to claim the €800,000 first-place prize. Both now sit next to each other on Day 1a of the Main Event.
Fahredin Mustafov is one table over and was just able to boost his stack. On a completed board of , the Bulgarian bet 430,000 and his table neighbor Borge Sandsgaard called, then mucked when Mustafov turned over for a flush.
According to Mohamed Mamouni, who was soon after eliminated, Viktor Blom added another starting stack to his growing pile of chips after picking up pocket aces versus pocket jacks and the Swedish high stakes cash game legend managed to grind out more than six starting stacks half way through Day 1a.
The player in the hijack raised to 50,000, the player in the cutoff called. Joao Simao, in the small blind, raised to 250,000. The hijack folded and the cutoff called.

The turn brought them the , Simao now fired off another bet but now for 275,000, his opponent called again.
The river completed the board with the , Simao now shoved for the 457,000 he had behind. His opponent tanked for so long that the clock was called on him. The floor gave him a minute to take a decision. After 50 seconds, the floor started counting down. During the countdown, Simao's opponent called. Simao tabled for a pair of queens with the ace-kicker. His opponent mucked his cards.
All poker enthusiasts have another 15 minutes to register for the first of four starting days in the €5,300 Main Event as the second break of the day just kicked off. So far, the screens show a total of 206 entries with 168 players remaining and when the cards get back in the air, the registration for Day 1a will officially close. The T-1,000 chips are being raced off during the break now as well.
The registration for Day 1a has officially closed and Steve O'Dwyer busted shortly after. Also among the recent casualties were Ansgar Brinkmann, Aylar Lie (who just busted the satellite) and Cheng-Wei Yin.
"You three-bet me with this?" Borge Sandsgaard said over to Stephen Ayres when the latter called a bet of 300,000 by Sandsgaard on the river of a board . Sandsgaard had flipped over for a pair of eights and Stephen Ayres showed for top pair. The dry reply of Ayres followed soon after with a "yeah, and you called with ten eight", and Sandsgaard busted shortly after.
The same table now also features Dominik Nitsche, who joined at the last possible minute.
On the three-way flop of , the action checked to Daniel Nietrzebka on the button and he bet 75,000. His countryman Tomasz Chmiel moved all in for 395,000 out of the big blind and Leonid Logunov in the cutoff called, as did Nietrzebka.
Both remaining active players checked down the turn and river and Chmiel turned over for a busted flush draw. Logunov had that beat with and Nietrzebka tabled for the slightly inferior pocket pair.
