Team Italy Lose First Player

Nível 2
Rocco Palumbo
Rocco Palumbo

Point leaders after Heat 1, Team Italy, have gotten off to a bad start in Heat 2, losing the first player in the shape of Rocco Palumbo.

Kenney, who busted him, recapped some the action for us.

Palumbo raised under the gun and bet 600 and 1,500 on the flop and turn. Kenney called the flop bet and raised to the turn bet to 3,600. Palumbo called and the board rested as {10-}{5-}{3-}{4-}{8-}. He checked to Team USA's Kenney who set him in for his last 8,000.

Paumbo called with a set of threes but Kenney had a straight with {6-}{7-}.

Another Bad Start For Filatov

Nível 2

Anatoly Filatov three-bet Marvin Rettenmaier's button open from the small blind and the German called.

The flop brought out {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Rettenmaier flopped top pair and the nut flush draw with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

Filatov bet on the flop and Rettenamaier called. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and on which Filatov bet 2,300. Rettenmaier called again and on the river, the {2-Clubs}, the German hit a flush.

Filatov bet 4,800 and Rettenmaier moved all in for 7,825 after which Team Russia's member folded right away.

We catched the action over on Table 1 on the river with the board reading {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Salter had checked and Schemion had bet 2,800.

Salter tanked for 29 seconds, and with just 1 second left check raised to 6,250. Schemion made the call, but couldn't beat Salter's flopped trips with {10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Team Germany down a lot, Team United Kingdom gains some chips over on table 1.

Dato Leads Again

Nível 2

Alex Bilokur opened to 300 and his neighbor Andrea Dato three bet to 800. Action folded back to Bilokur who called.

Both players checked the {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop and the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn. Bilokur bet out 700, and Dato raised to 2,200. Bilokur made the call.

The river {K-Clubs} made Bilokur check. Dato bet 1,800 and with just a few seconds left to act, Bilokur check raised to 10,500. Dato called all in and it was time to table the cards.

Alex Bilokur: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Andrea Dato: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

"Italian skill!" laughed Dato. Team Russia down to just 3,000 on Table 5, Team Italy leading.

Khoroshenin Walks Into a Set

Nível 2

Ole Schemion limped in for 200 and Vladimir Troyanoskiy over limped right behind him. Action folded to Andrew Chen in the small blind and Team Canada was now in as well. Oleksii Khoroshenin raised to 1,000 fromn the big blind, just Troyanovskiy made the call.

Khoroshenin checked on {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, and called Troyanovskiy's 1,000 bet. Khoroshenin check called another 2,600 on the {8-Spades} turn and 5,800 on the {A-Spades} river.

Troyanovskiy tabled {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for a flopped set, Khoroshenin mucked. Team Ukraine already down to just 1,100 in chips on Table 1. Team Russia is leading.

Filatov Brings the Gifts

Team Russia's Anatoly Filatov, who's currently seated at the feature table, just handed out Russian souvenirs to all his opponents. The atmosphere at the table is great, and it's safe to say Filatov is the big entertainer right now.

Can I Order Roast Cat and get a Saucer of Milk for my Chicken?

Nível 2

The pots are small and mostly insignificant at the beginning of a heat so table talk is at a high point.

There's something about the corner where Table 5 is situated as - even with a mostly different line up - it's where the chat action is at right now, same as in Heat 1.

The topic of conversation was all about whether it's okay to eat domesticated animals. George Danzer said he grew up on a small farm with chickens and pigs and he sees no difference between them and domesticated animals such as dogs and cats.

Vanessa Selbst is a known animal lover and she said there's a different mindset when talking about animals we've domesticated and that Danzer has no heart because he's German.

The whole conversation had a light-hearted feel about it and it was interesting to witness such conversations rather than the competition strategy that will sure to dominate later on.
