Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

An exciting Day 2 of the $1,650 PokerStars North American Poker Tour Las Vegas Main Event wrapped up late on Thursday with 34 players remaining. Leading the way is Florida's Anthony Dianaty with a stack of 3,220,000 as the Tampa native looks to add to his $826,106 in tournament earnings.

There were plenty of well-known faces in the Day 2 field and a handful of them found bags at the end of the evening, including poker commentator Nick Schulman, Japanese poker vlogger Masato Yokosawa, Sergio Aido, Scott Ball and Matthew Wantman.

Each of the remaining players has a payday of at least $6,005 locked up and a shot at the $268,945 up top for the first NAPT champion in 12 years.

Day 2 Action

There were 252 players who returned for Day 2 and each of them fought hard to make it into the money with only 159 spots paid. Some of those eliminated before the money include Ryan Laplante, Adam Hendrix, Donnie Peters, Benjamin Kaupp, Asher Conniff and $10,300 Super High Roller champion Jesse Lonis.

An early highlight of the day was Brazil's Leonardo Boen hitting quads twice in one orbit, including in a hand where he flopped quads holding pocket nines to eliminate Ukraine's Valentyn Shabelnyk.

Someone else who took a beat was Christina "Baby Shark" Gollins, whose pocket queens were outflopped by the pocket jacks of Mario Arribas to go out a few spots off the money.

Play slowed down significantly during hand-for-hand play on the money bubble and several players received doubles to make it into the money, including 2004 WSOP Main Event runner-up David Williams, Karim Ghozlani and John Morgan.

Eventually, Turbo Nguyen found himself flipping against Matthew Wantman with pocket tens against king-jack. A king on the flop gave Wantman the lead and Nguyen couldn't hit the two-outer and ran out of turbo to go out on the money bubble.

The post-bubble casualties included Andrew Moreno and Jonathan Glendinning, who were both eliminated by Girish Reknar in a massive hand that saw Reknar hitting a flush to beat out Moreno's straight and Glendinning's set, as well as David Peters, Michael Jozoff, Matthew Hunt, Hirokazu Kobayashi and Jeremy Eyer.

PokerStars Ambassador Parker Talbot had a big stack for much of the day but fell in the last level of play as he ran ace-jack into the ace-queen of Liran Betito in a blind versus blind confrontation. Fellow ambassadors Maria Konnikova and David Kaye were also unable to survive the day.

Day 3 will kick off at noon Vegas time on Level 24 with blinds of 10,000/25,000/25,000. Levels will increase to 75 minutes in duration and shot clocks will be introduced. The tournament will be streamed by PokerStars on a 30-minute delay from Day 3 on, so be sure to follow along.

George Karvounis was all in for about 100,000 on the button and at risk against Anthony Dianaty in the small blind.

Karvounis needed to improve as the J82 flop left him drawing even slimmer, and although the 9 turn gave him a few more outs, the 2 river bricked out to eliminate him as Dianaty added to his chip lead.

Massey Keeps His Foot on the Gas

Nível 21 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Aaron Massey
Aaron Massey

Sami Bechahed raised to 24,000 from middle position and got called by Aaron Massey in the big blind before seeing the flop come A44.

Massey checked over to Bechahed who continued with a bet of 12,000. Massey, not yet done with the hand, decided to put in a check-raise to 27,000. Bechahed didn't waste much time before making the call to bring the 8 out on the turn.

Massey took the lead on this street and put together a bet of 75,000. Bechahed wanted to see the river, though, and called to see it peel off the 7.

Massey eyed down Bechahed's stack to get a count before putting together two stacks of chips and moving forward a bet of 220,000. Seemningly not ready to release the hand, Bechahed gave his decision some thought before eventually sliding his cards toward the muck and conceding the pot to Massey.

Schulman Scores Double Elimination to Hit Seven-Figure Territory

Nível 20 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The 2004 WSOP Main Event runner-up David Williams moved all in for 75,000 under the gun and Nick Schulman called next to act. When action reached Anthony Marquez in the big blind, he moved all in for around 215,000 and Schulman thought for a few beats before calling.

Nick Schulman: AK
Anthony Marquez: QQ
David Williams: 33

Big Slick did the trick for Schulman as he took the lead on the 610K flop. Neither the 7 turn nor 10 river changed a thing and Schulman scored the double elimination.

Williams became the 76th-place finisher while Marquez, by virtue of starting the hand with more chips, finished in 75th place.

Ko KOs Kobayashi in Multi-Way Pot

Nível 19 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
David Dongwoo Ko
David Dongwoo Ko

A player in middle position raised to 16,000 and got called by Hirokazu Kobayashi in late position, the button, David Dongwoo Ko in the small blind and the big blind leading to a five-way flop of K69.

Ko checked as did the big blind and the middle position player, but Kobayashi decided to toss out a bet of 22,000. The button called before Ko came in with a check-raise to 88,000.

Both the big blind and middle position player folded before Kobayashi made the call. The button checked his cards one last time and sent them to the muck to set up a heads-up turn card that came the 8.

Ko led with a bet large enough to put Kobayashi all in and when he called to put himself at risk, he and Ko were headed to a river card with Kobayashi at risk.

Hirokazu Kobayashi: KQ
David Dongwoo Ko: K9

The 7 river offered no spades or queens for Kobayashi and Ko began collecting the pot as Kobayashi stood to exit the tournament area.

Je Wook Oh raised to 16,000 from the hijack and got one caller in Kyle Lorenz from the big blind before seeing the flop come 76Q.

Lorenz checked over to Oh who continued with a bet worth 12,000. Lorenz thought briefly before check-calling to watch as the A hit the turn.

Lorenz checked again and again, Oh reached for chips and came out with a bet of 43,000. Lorenz, not yet done with the hand, opted to make the call and see the river bring the 9.

Lorenz checked a third time and after a moment of thought, Oh checked back. Lorenz said, "Good check" as he turned over the AQ, prompting a muck from Oh as the dealer collected the pot to send in Lorenz's direction.
