Two In A Row For Melin

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

The board read {7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Sin Melin bet 3,400.

Her opponent clarified the bet, called and then mucked when Melin turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. “Nice hand.” Martin Finger said.

On the next hand there was an open to 900 and one caller before Melin came along on the button.

The flop was {5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and when the initial raiser checked the player in the cut-off bet 1,700.

Melin was the only caller and they checked down the turn {10-Diamonds} and river {6-Clubs}. The bettor showed {a-Spades}{q-Spades} but Melin took the pot with {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

Daphne van Dijk isn't Forced to Show

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Daphne van Dijk
Daphne van Dijk

A player in early position opened for 800 and Dutch online qualifier Daphne van Dijk in the hijack three bet to 2,100. The cutoff, button and both blinds folded, the initial raiser called.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and the early position player checked. Van Dijk checked behind so they saw the {J-Diamonds} on the turn for free. The initial raiser bet out 2,100 and Van Dijk made the call.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and the initial raiser checked. Van Dijk put out a bet, but we couldn't exactly see how much it was. The initial raiser threw in a 25 chip to indicate the call. Van Dijk checked her cards, and then slid them forward over the betting line.

This is where things got kind of interesting. The initial raiser immediately asked to see Van Dijk's cards, but the dealer didn't want to show them, telling the player that he won the hand and there was no need to show a winning hand perse. Two players insisted that the initial raiser had the right to see his opponents hand as he was the one who had paid the bet on the river.

The floor came over and ruled that the players had no right to check the cards, unless he would have said so at the same time of the call. The players didn't really understand and indicated that they had never heard of something like that before, but also didn't need a second opinion on the matter as it would only slow things down a lot.

Van Dijk didn't say a word through all of this and play continued. Van Dijk is still doing fine with a stack of well over 60,000.

Tides are Changing

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

In the previous level, Leonid Markin bluffed Sabina Hiatullah off a set of threes in a three-way pot to the {A-} {3-Clubs} {4-Clubs} flop where Hiatullah raised to 12,500 and only Markin called, Zohair Karim as initial preflop raiser folded. The Russian fired the {2-} turn for 19,000 and Hiatullah had mucked.

Fast forward one level, the Italian is now ahead of the Russian in chips again and pretty much exchanged their stacks from after the confrontation. Below are some further chip counts that we grabbed from the floor. The poker floor that is.

Sotiropoulos versus Katchalov

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Georgios Sotiropoulos
Georgios Sotiropoulos

Georgios Sotiropoulos raised to 925 and was called by Eugene Katchalov in the big blind. The Team PokerStars Pro check-raised the {7-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} flop from 1,100 to 3,300 and Sotiropoulos called to see the {A-Hearts} on the turn. Katchalov bet 6,600 and the Greek called before both then checked the {6-Clubs} on the river.

Katchalov showed {6-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} but that was only second best to the {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} of the Greek, who finished runner-up to Julian Track in the very same event last year.

Shak Gets Lucky

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

With the board showing {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} Dan Shak led out for 3,500 from middle position. Eugene Katchalov was his opponent and raised it up to 8,000 from the button. Shak thought about his decision for a moment before making the call before both players watched the {9-Diamonds} complete the board.

Shak reached for his chips and bet out 12,000 before staring down Katchalov. It didn’t take him long to release his hand as he relinquished the pot to Shak.

“You got lucky,” said Katchalov after the completion of the hand.

“What you think I got lucky with?” smiled Shak, curious at Katchalov’s statement.

Shak then tabled his {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the nut flush as he stacked up his chips.

“Nice hand,” said Katchalov sincerely, as he drops down to 40,500 in chips.

Castaignon Flops Full House

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Joining the action on the {10-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} flop, Remi Castaignon and Andreas Berggren checked in the small respectively big blind and the initial raiser in the cutoff seat bet 1,800. Castaignon raised to 3,800 and then called the reraise to 9,000 by Bergren, the player in the cutoff folded.

Both players then checked the {8-Spades} turn and the {J-Clubs}, which turned out to be a wise move by Berggren as the Swede was shown {10-Hearts} {10-Spades} by Castaignon.

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

We asked Davidi Kitai what had happened to his former table mate Luca Pagano, and the Belgium three time bracelet winner told us that he was the one responsible for Pagano gone missing.

Pagano had opened from middle position and Davidi Kitai had flatted with {A-}{Q-} in the cutoff. Pagano had made a continuation bet on {Q-}{9-}{3-} and Kitai had called once more.

A {5-} fell on the turn and Pagano now check called a bet from Kitai. Pagano, who had started the hand with about 12,000, check called all in on the {A-} on the river.

Kitai showed his top two and Pagano left the tournament area.
