Messina checked and was able to extract a bet of 830,000 from his opponent before check-raising to 2.25 million. Montury sighed and took off his sunglasses to have a better look at the board and the fellow Frenchman. The contest went on for several minutes and Montury eventually called to bring both players back to almost even in chips.
