Barer Folds Top Set, Extends Kaufmann's Lead

Nível 31 : Blinds 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Ami Barer
Ami Barer

David Kaufmann looked down at 1010 in middle position and raised it up to 300,000. Peter Jorgne called in the cutoff with 77 and the action folded to Ami Barer in the big blind, who was sitting with JJ.

After thinking for a while, he tossed in a call and a flop of J102 was dealt. Barer checked his top set before Kaufmann bet out 300,000 with his middle set. Jorgne called with his sevens, but Barer bumped up the price to 1,400,000.

Kaufmann put in the extra chips, while Jorgne quickly got out of the way. The 6 turn rolled off and Barer used one time bank card before firing 2,675,000 in the middle, about half his remaining stack. Kaufmann just called and the 3 river completed the board.

Barer slowed down and checked the flush-completing card, but Kaufmann pushed enough chips in the middle to put Barer all-in for his final 2,780,000. Barer took a long time but eventually convinced himself to fold the better hand and conceded the pot to Kaufmann.

Ponakovs Finds Another Barrel

Nível 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Aleksejs Ponakovs
Aleksejs Ponakovs

Action folded to David Kaufmann who limped in from the small blind with 55. Aleksejs Ponakovs checked back J7 and they saw a flop of 983.

Both players checked and the 8 fell on the turn. Kaufmann checked again and Ponakovs bet 240,000. Kaufmann called.

The river was the 6 and Kaufmann checked for a third time. Ponakovs then bet 610,000. Kaufmann used a time bank as he tanked for nearly a minute before mucking his pair as Ponakovs took the pot with his jack-high bluff.

Dodd Wakes Up With a Bigger Pair to Double Off Jorgne

Nível 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Owen Dodd
Owen Dodd

David Kaufmann raised to 200,000 in early position before Peter Jorgne three-bet to 600,000 in middle position. Owen Dodd was in the small blind and used two time banks before moving all in for 1,005,000. Kaufmann folded, but Jorgne called to put Dodd at risk.

Owen Dodd: 99
Peter Jorgne: 77

Dodd had Jorgne dominated with his nines as the flop came K56. The 8 turn gave Jorgne additional outs with a straight draw, but he missed the 2 river and Dodd doubled up at the start of the final table.

Aleksejs Ponakovs raised to 200,000 in the cutoff as action folded to Farid Jattin who moved all in for 1,940,000 in the big blind. Ponakovs snap-called.

Farid Jattin: K10
Aleksejs Ponakovs: QQ

Jattin was looking for a king to stay alive as the flop came 962. The turn was the 5, while the 8 completed the board on the river and sealed Jattin's elimination in tenth place.

The remaining nine players are now drawing for seats at the final table.

Eliot Hudon Eliminated in 11th Place (€91,550)

Nível 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Eliot Hudon - Peter Jorgne
Eliot Hudon - Peter Jorgne

Eric Afriat raised to 250,000 on the button before Eliot Hudon moved all in for around 2,100,000 in the big blind. Afriat folded and last year's EPT Barcelona finalist Santiago Plante let out a loud clap from the rail.

"What a player," Plante said.

"I like to share," Afriat added as his fellow Canadian took the pot.

The next hand, Barny Boatman raised to 200,000 on the button and Hudon shoved again, this time for 2,460,000. Peter Jorgne in the big blind asked for a count and called, while Boatman got out of the way.

Eliot Hudon: AJ
Peter Jorgne: QQ

Hudon was looking for an ace to stay alive, but one wouldn't help him for long as Jorgne flopped quads on Q2Q. "Won't be easy," Boatman joked.

The rest of the board ran out 22 and Hudon was eliminated in 11th place. "Good game. Nothing you could do there," Boatman said to him as he got up to shake his hand.

Gonzalo Almeida Eliminated in 12th Place (€76,300)

Nível 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Gonzalo Almeida
Gonzalo Almeida

Peter Jorgne kicked off the action with a raise to 200,000 from the hijack. Gonzalo Almeida then used a time bank extension before reraising to 450,000 on the button.

Eric Afriat sat in the small blind and quickly piled 2,000,000 chips in the middle, the majority of his stack. Jorgne then went all in for around 2,500,000 and Almeida pushed in his stack of just over 2,000,000 as well.

Afriat made the call to put both of his opponents at risk and all cards were tabled.

Gonzalo Almeida: QQ
Peter Jorgne: KK
Eric Afriat: KK

Jorgne's kings flopped a flush draw on 9103 while Almeida turned a straight draw on the 8. However, the 5 river bricked out and the chop was split between Jorgne and Afriat, resulting in Almeida's elimination.

Almeida Spikes the Turn to Double

Nível 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Gonzalo Almeida
Gonzalo Almeida

"This is the only level I know how many big blinds I have without using a calculator," Barny Boatman said as the players returned from break.

"It's nice to do be able to say what you want, do what you want. I was very gentle with you," Eric Afriat added as yesterday's rivals shared a laugh.

"You have to embrace the villain role," tablemate Eliot Hudon said to Afriat.

Gonzalo Almeida then moved all in for 1,040,000 in the cutoff and Eliot Hudon called in the big blind.

Gonzalo Almeida: 88
Eliot Hudon: AQ

Hudon took the lead on the Q72 flop with top pair, but Almeida spiked the 8 on the turn to make a set and leave Hudon drawing dead. The 7 river improved Almeida to a full house and he doubled up.

"That's why you play this game. For moments like that," Afriat said to Almeida.

"I was probably due to lose one," Hudon added.

Turn Card Sees Chips Pile In

Nível 28 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Sindre Hansen
Sindre Hansen

Eliot Hudon opened to 160,000 from the button with QQ and Sindre Hansen called from the big bind with Q7.

Hansen paired his seven on the A72 flop and check-called for 110,000. The Q turn had potential to be a huge action card as Hudon improved to a set while Hansen had two pair. Sparks ignited as Hansen check-jammed after Hudon bet 250,000. Hudon called off his last 1,500,000 and doubled up after the 8 completed the board.

David Tous Eliminated in 13th Place (€76,300)

Nível 28 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
David Tous
David Tous

Before the hand, Ami Barer asked the floor about the rule about leaving too few chips behind after a raise, referencing Aleksejs Ponakovs' double up earlier.

"He doesn't know. He usually plays the high rollers and we don't use that rule in the high rollers," Barer was told.

"I can tell by the jacket he plays the high rollers," Barer joked, pointing out Ponakovs' sleek gold sweater that contrasted with his plain blue shirt.

Ponakovs then raised to 160,000 in the hijack and David Tous slid forward a tower of green 25,000 chips from the small blind. Ponakovs didn't even wait for the amount before moving all in. "No," Tous cried out as he called for his last 1,800,000.

David Tous: A9
Aleksejs Ponakovs: AK

Tous was dominated and found no help on the 10J65J flop as Ponakovs' king-kicker was enough to send him to the rail in 13th place.
