Grigorii Rodin and Peter Jorgne Hunting for Back-To-Back Final Tables as 57 Return for Day 4 of EPT Paris Main Event

Grigorii Rodin
Grigorii Rodin

Of the 1,747 entries that the €5,300 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris Main Event attracted, just 57 will make an appearance at Le Palais des Congrès today at noon local time for Day 4. Two of them have a chance to achieve something extraordinary, as both Grigorii Rodin and Peter Jorgne are looking to make consecutive EPT final tables, although each in a different way.

Rodin finished sixth at the previous EPT stop, just over two months ago in Prague, and will have to spin up his stack of 275,000, or just under 14 big blinds at the start of play, to still have a shot at making his second final table in a row. Meanwhile, Jorgne sits in a more comfortable position, as he bagged 1,475,000 chips on Day 3. He is experiencing another deep run in Paris after finishing runner-up during the inaugural EPT in the French capital in 2023.

Jorgne's stack lands him in the ninth position on the leaderboard, which is topped by Panagiotis Mavritsakis. The Greek player, who is playing in his very first EPT, bagged 2,930,000 chips on Day 3, over 30 big blinds more than his nearest competitor Eric Afriat, who will start with 2,300,000. EPT Barcelona 2013 champion Tom Middleton, meanwhile, rounds out the top three with a stack of 2,190,000 chips.

The river was the J and Danchev doubled up, leaving Korochenskiy on a short stack.

At the same time at another table, Byron Kaverman raised to 285,000 as Clement Michaud used a time bank before reshoving from the cutoff. The table folded back to Kaverman in the hijack who also used a time bank before tossing in his last 5,000.

Byron Kaverman: A10
Clement Michaud: 88

The 10510 flop gave Kaverman trip tens, while the A turn improved him to a full house and left Michaud drawing dead going to the A river as Kaverman doubled.

Jattin Jumps Over a Million in Chips

Nível 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Farid Jattin

Peter Jorgne opened to 40,000 in the cutoff with 76 and Tom Middleton defended a suited six with the K6. The AK5 flop kept Middleton ahead but he folded when Jorgne continued for 55,000.

Eliot Hudon then made it 40,000 to go with the J9 in an early position. Farid Jattin on the button had the 88 and inquired to see the stack sizes of the two players behind, then called while the blinds let go.

The 662 flop brought with it a bet of 100,000 into 130,000 by Hudon and Jattin now checked his remaining stack before using a time bank extension. He then called and they headed to the Q turn. Hudon fired a second barrel for 165,000 to force Jattin into using another time bank before coming along.

The river brought the 8 to give Jattin a full house and Hudon gave up his aggression by checking. Jattin bet only 75,000 into 660,000 and Hudon folded.

Huge Flip Eliminates Montone

Nível 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Diego Montone
Diego Montone

After David Tous had three-bet an earlier open to 125,000 on the button, Diego Montone made it 400,000 to go from the small blind.

The action folded back to Tous, who five-bet jammed for 1,025,000, barely covering his opponent. Montone thought about it for a little while but eventually tossed in a call for his tournament life.

Diego Montone: QQ
David Tous: AK

Montone stood up as the A53 flop fell, and he was right to do so as the 76 saw Tous' flopped top pair hold up for the win.

Tous raked in a big pot while Montone headed to the exit to collect his payout.

Grigorii Rodin raised to 150,000 under the gun, leaving his last 75,000 behind, as Francesco Delfoco reraised to 410,000 in the small blind. Johannes Verhagen folded his big blind, while Rodin tossed in his last chips.

Grigorii Rodin: KJ
Francesco Delfoco: KK

Rodin got some hope on the J87 flop, picking up a pair of jacks, while the 2 turn kept Delfoco in the lead. "I wouldn't mind a jack," Rodin said heading to the river, which came the 7 and sealed Rodin's bustout in 52nd place after a run to the final table at EPT Prague in December.

Clement Kerrien was also eliminated from this table a few hands earlier as David Tous climbed up to 2,900,000.

Fournier Hero-Calls Kaverman; Kostadinov Takes Out Soika

Nível 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Gregory Fournier
Gregory Fournier

Matthias Lipp raised to 45,000 in early position and Gregory Fournier called in the cutoff. Byron Kaverman then three-bet to 205,000 in the big blind and only Fournier called.

The flop came 4K6 and Kaverman continued for 110,000. Fournier called to see the J turn, where Kaverman bet another 185,000.

Fournier again called and the 3 fell on the river. Kaverman then bet 475,000, sending Fournier deep into the tank.

Fournier burned through five time banks as he considered the decision for several minutes before calling. Kaverman turned over A5 for a bluff, while Fournier showed 1010 to win the massive pot.

At the same time at another table, Ihar Soika and Kostadin Kostadinov went heads-up in a blind versus blind battle to a board of K768. Soika then bet 40,000, Kostadinov raised to 120,000, and Soika called.

The river was the Q and Kostadinov bet 225,000, enough to put Soika all in. Soika tanked for more than a minute before calling as Kostadinov turned over K2 for a pair of kings. Soika tossed 96 into the muck before heading for the payout desk.
