Yi Ning Busts Duta to Climb Into the Lead

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Zhi Yi Ning
Zhi Yi Ning

Oleksii Koiev raised it up in early position and Zhi Yi Ning stuck in a three-bet on the button. Florian Duta four-bet shoved all in for around 100,000 in the big blind which got Koiev to fold. Ning, however, quickly called to put Duta at risk.

Florian Duta: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Zhi Yi Ning: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Not only did Ning have the better pocket pair, but he also had both of the suits covered. The board ran out {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Spades} and Ning held with no sweat to claim a bounty and move into the chip lead.

Le Dantec Sees Off Kim

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Brian Kim
Brian Kim

Brian Kim jammed for 14,000 from middle position and was called by Aleksejs Ponakovs from the hijack. Enrico Camosci and Romain Le Dantec also called from the button and big blind respectively.

Le Dantec then led out for 18,000 on the {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop and only Ponakovs called, which left him with around 57,000 behind.

Le Dantec then jammed as the bigger stack on the {q-Clubs} turn which folded out Ponakovs.

Brian Kim: {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Romain Le Dantec: {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Le Dantec was ahead with just a pair of sevens and he eliminated Kim following the {2-Diamonds} river.

Aces Cracked Ousts Kamel

Nível 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Tamer Kamel
Tamer Kamel

Jamil Wakil opened to 5,500 from early positon and was called by Georgi Sandev on his direct left. Danut Chisu then made it 46,000 on the bottom. Tamer Kamel called of his stack of 36,000 from the small blind. Wakil and Sandev opted to fold.

Tamer Kamel: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Danut Chisu: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Kamel was in great shape for a double up after being on the right side of a preflop cooler. It looked liked the pot was heading to his direction following the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop and {q-Hearts} river. However, the {k-Hearts} river improved Chisu to a full house and secured the elimination.

"I can do it too," chimed a delighted Chisu.

Wakil and Sandev were chatting as the hand played out and they both revealed that they had folded pocket tens.

Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

The players are set to return to the felt for Day 2 of the €3,000 EPT Mystery Bounty at the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris. There were 329 players who bagged up chips after Day 1 out of the over 700 entries thus far. It was Gabriel Shohet who finished on top of the counts and will be in a prime position to pull a few bounties today.

Over the course of 10 levels on the opening day, business owner and part-time poker player, Shohet amassed a whopping stack of 265,500 on the heels of 12 eliminations throughout the day. However, those knockouts won't come into play until the start of today when the bounty portion of the tournament begins. Each player will be given a bounty chip to start the day, and those will be able to be redeemed for an envelope in the "tickle trunk".

Late registration was still open until 12:30 p.m. local time today and the final numbers will determine the prize pool along with the prizes for each bounty. Some of the other big stacks heading into the day include PokerStars ambassador Lex Veldhuis who accumulated a stack of 192,500 chips on the opening day. Veldhuis sits among the top 10 stacks entering the day and will have his sights set on some of the top prizes as the action continues. He will be joined by the likes of Ian Bradley (182,000), Nick Marchington (136,000), and Sonny Franco (127,500).

The cards will go back in the air at 1 p.m. local time with the blind resuming on level 11 at 1,000/1,500 and a 1,500 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 40 minutes in length throughout the tournament with a 15-minute break after every three levels. A 75-minute dinner break is currently scheduled for after level 16.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day along with who draws the largest mystery bounty tickets.
