A Missclick; A Shove and Aces Around

Nível 14 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Felipe Ketzer
Felipe Ketzer

Ren Lin had a raise to 52,000 out in front and Tom Orpaz then reraised to 108,000. What followed was the shove by Lin and Orpaz was stunned, even more so after he was shown the {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} by Lin. "I missclicked," Orpaz said after all was done and dusted.

Moments later, there was action on both tables at the same time.

Chris Brewer raised to 20,000 in the hijack and Orpen Kisacikoglu three-bet to 50,000 on the button for Brewer to call. The {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop was checked by Brewer, who then faced a bet worth 60,000 by Kisacikoglu. A few seconds later, Brewer jammed and Kisacikoglu asked for the exact amount.

That happened to be 384,000, which narrowly covered his stack, prompting a tank-fold.

Rui Neves Ferreira had raised to 20,000 in the cutoff on the other table and called a small three-bet to 43,000 by Felipe Ketzer. The {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop was check-called by Neves Ferreira for 12,000 and the same action repeated on the {8-Hearts} turn for 13,000.

Neves Ferreira also checked the {a-Clubs} on the river and Ketzer used one time bank while eyeballing the stack of his opponent. He made it 125,000 to go after, which represented a large portion of Neves Ferreira's stack. The Portuguese called and gasped as he was shown the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} for aces full by Ketzer.

Volkmann Wins a Coin Flip

Nível 14 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Bruno Volkmann shoved all in for 78,000 from under the gun and Daniel Dvoress called from the next seat. The rest of the table folded and the cards were on their backs.

Bruno Volkmann: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Daniel Dvoress: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Volkmann won the 50/50 to earn a double up.

Orpaz Bluffs It Off, Ferreira Eliminated

Nível 14 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Tom Orpaz raised to 20,000 in the cutoff and Ren Lin called from the big blind. The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Lin check-called a bet of 20,000 from Orpaz.

The turn brought the {k-Hearts} and Orpaz continued firing with a bet of 75,000 this time. Lin still called and the {2-Clubs} completed the board. Lin nearly checked again but then thought for a few seconds before actually checking. Orpaz quickly made a bet of 150,000 and Lin looked him up.

Orpaz announced jack-high as he tabled {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a missed combo draw while Lin turned over {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} to claim the pot.

At the next table over, Rui Neves Ferreira was all in for 28,000 in the small blind and Felipe Ketzer called in the big blind. Ferreira couldn't connect with the board and Ketzer's king-high was good enough to win the pot.

David Kaye "Blown Away" by Impact of PokerStars US Player Pool Merging

Nível 15 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
David Kaye
David Kaye

American David Kaye spoke with PokerNews about his journey from a small-town Michigan poker player to becoming a poker player and PokerStars ambassador.

He also gave insight into the current poker scene in Michigan, and the potential of online poker in the state.
“We know the end goal isn't just two states,” he said. “Two states is great, but this is just the groundwork to get where we really want to be when we have all the states under one umbrella — or as many states as possible.”

Find out what Kaye had to say about the bright future of PokerStars US here!

Ketzer's Big Stack Gets Him in Trouble

Nível 15 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Kayhan Mokri raised to 25,000 on the button and Felipe Ketzer used his massive stack to shove all in from the small blind. Daniel Dvoress woke up with a hand in the big blind and called off his last 415,000 chips. Mokri got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Daniel Dvoress: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Felipe Ketzer: {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The flop came {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} with the seven in the window but Dvoress was still ahead with his pocket tens. The {j-Clubs} and {6-Spades} runout changed nothing and Dvoress earned a big double-up to pull even with Ketzer.

Orpaz Busts With a Move at Wrong Time

Nível 15 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Tom Orpaz
Tom Orpaz

Chris Brewer opened the action with a raise to 24,000 and it folded to Tom Orpaz, who jammed for 149,000 in the hijack. Kayhan Mokri in the cutoff asked for an exact count and then shook his head after some 25 seconds of consideration, sending his cards into the muck.

It folded back to Brewer, who called and exposed his {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} already. "No, he is ahead," Orpaz immediately mentioned and then flipped over his {k-Spades}{2-Spades} as he was facing an uphill battle with a dominated kicker.

The {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop contained one spade and potential back door straight equity but the {9-Hearts} turn as well as the {k-Hearts} river brought an end to his run in ninth place.

Small Pot for Ketzer, Volkmann Getting Short

Nível 15 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

The action has stalled out over the last 20 minutes with the money bubble on the horizon, just two eliminations away. Felipe Ketzer opened to 25,000 in the cutoff and Nick Petrangelo defended from the big blind.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Petrangelo check-called a bet of 12,000 from Ketzer. The {4-Spades} landed on the turn and Petrangelo checked again. Ketzer reached for a bet of 109,000 and Petrangelo instantly mucked his cards.

Bruno Volkmann also just passed through the blinds and is now down to just 121,000 chips as the shortest stack.
