Bruno Volkmann pushed all-in from the hijack and Chris Brewer on the button asked for a count.
Once it was deemed to be for 121,000, Brewer inquired "how much do you have, Orpen?" as Orpen Kisacikoglu in the big blind instantly replied "around 280k".
Brewer then flat-called and both blinds got out of the way.
Bruno Volkmann:
Chris Brewer:
The board provided no help to Volkmann and Brewer scored the knockout with a nine-high straight, bringing the field down to the money bubble.
Chris Brewer opened the action with a raise to 24,000 and it folded to Tom Orpaz, who jammed for 149,000 in the hijack. Kayhan Mokri in the cutoff asked for an exact count and then shook his head after some 25 seconds of consideration, sending his cards into the muck.
It folded back to Brewer, who called and exposed his already. "No, he is ahead," Orpaz immediately mentioned and then flipped over his as he was facing an uphill battle with a dominated kicker.
The flop contained one spade and potential back door straight equity but the turn as well as the river brought an end to his run in ninth place.
Kayhan Mokri raised to 25,000 on the button and Felipe Ketzer used his massive stack to shove all in from the small blind. Daniel Dvoress woke up with a hand in the big blind and called off his last 415,000 chips. Mokri got out of the way and the cards were tabled.
Daniel Dvoress:
Felipe Ketzer:
The flop came with the seven in the window but Dvoress was still ahead with his pocket tens. The and runout changed nothing and Dvoress earned a big double-up to pull even with Ketzer.
Daniel Dvoress opened to 20,000 from under the gun and Kayhan Mokri three-bet to 60,000 on his left. Tauan Naves shoved all in for 157,000 on the button and Felipe Ketzer re-shoved all in as the big stack from the big blind. Dvoress quickly folded but Mokri had a tougher decision. After using one of his time banks, he reluctantly folded as well.
Tauan Naves:
Felipe Ketzer:
"Jacks," Mokri mumbled under his breath. The board ran out and Ketzer made a full house on the turn to send Naves packing.
Chris Brewer raised to 20,000 from an early position and Tom Orpaz called in the small blind. Sam Grafton then pushed all-in for 164,000 in the big blind and Brewer verified the amount before moving all-in over the top, forcing out Orpaz in the process.
Sam Grafton:
Chris Brewer:
Orpaz shook his head and asked to get his cards back upon seeing the two small pocket pairs exposed.
Grafton failed to get there on the board and Orpaz added "not happy" while Brewer replied "I am happy".
Felipe Ketzer opened the action with a raise to 21,000 and Niklas Astedt then pushed all-in for 151,000 from one seat over. Once it folded back to Ketzer, he instantly called and rolled over aces.
Niklas Astedt:
Felipe Ketzer:
"Same hand against Neymar," Ketzer exclaimed while Astedt pointed to his cards and promised one five would come. However, the runout brought no help to the online poker legend and Astedt was sent to the rail.
Chris Brewer raised to 16,000 and was called by Ren Lin as well as Tom Orpaz on the button. Sam Grafton then moved all-in for 59,000 in the small blind and Nick Petrangelo reraised to 110,000.
Brewer quickly let go while Lin mulled it over for almost the entire 30-second shot clock to then fold. Orpaz also gave it some consideration but let go, too.
"How do you wake up with aces there, Nicky?" Grafton said, having been silent until then. When the cards were revealed, Grafton was suddenly all smiles, though.
Sam Grafton:
Nick Petrangelo:
"If I win this hand with king-high, you can pick dinner anywhere," the jovial Brit instantly offered and then meshed the cards of both players before the dealer separated them again.
Somehow, king-high indeed won the pot on the runout and Grafton then praised Petrangelo for more than three minutes despite having lost the hand. "That's how he wins all the money ... he just slapped you all," Grafton declared.
Petrangelo didn't say a single word and maintained a dry smile on his face throughout.
Daniel Dvoress raised to 13,000 just before the blinds went up and was called by Felipe Ketzer on the button. Jean-Noel Thorel in the small blind three-bet to 30,000 and Dvoress folded while Ketzer called.
On a flop of , Thorel continued for 30,000 and Ketzer came along. The shove by Thorel followed on the turn and Ketzer called instantly.
Jean-Noel Thorel:
Felipe Ketzer:
There was no card in the deck to help Thorel as the meaningless river became a formality to reduce the field to the last 14 hopefuls.
Joao Vieira raised to 12,000 in the cutoff and Felipe Ketzer defended from the big blind. The flop came and Ketzer check-called a bet of 11,000 from Vieira.
The paired the board on the turn and Ketzer check-called another bet of 32,000 on the turn. The completed the board and Ketzer checked for the third time. Vieira pushed out a bet of around 75,000, leaving just 6,000 behind. Ketzer instantly moved all in and Vieira called off the last of his chips.
Ketzer turned over for a full house while Vieira quickly flashed before they went into the muck.
Tom Orpaz, Kayhan Mokri, and Timothy Adams were involved in a three-way hand where Adams ran a failed bluff attempt that cost him dearly. Adams fired 30,000 on the turn and then 140,000 on the river which was called by Orpaz. Adams neglected to table his hand and the pot was pushed towards Orpaz, leaving the Canadian with just 9,000 chips.
On the next hand, Felipe Ketzer opened to 11,000 from under the gun and Adams stuck in the last of his chips in the cutoff. Orpaz failed to see the initial raise and threw in a re-raise to 25,000 from the small blind. Ketzer called which created a small side pot.
The flop came and Orpaz threw in a bet which forced Ketzer to lay his hand down. Orpaz turned over for complete air while Adams held for a pair of tens. The and runout was not enough for Orpaz who helped Adams triple his stack.
