Calamusa Approaching Half a Million

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Pierre Calamusa
Pierre Calamusa

Aidan Hynes three-bet jammed his short stack from the button and he was called by chip leader Pierre Calamusa in the hijack.

"Please don't tell me you have queen-jack," Hynes said and tabled his {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Calamusa was ahead with {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Hynes added "that's fair, I'll take it."

The {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop gave Calamusa top pair and the nut flush draw, and he held onto the lead on the {7-Hearts} turn and {j-Diamonds} river.

Perelta Doubles Dimov

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Eugenio Peralta had missed the first few hands and arrived late. Right after that he was involved in an all-in with former EPT champion Ognyan Dimov and had the best of it with {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} versus {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}.

However, the board came {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts} to give Dimov an unlikely straight.

Kuznetcov Wins With Check-Raise

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Anatolii Zyrin was in early position and opened to 3,200. He received a call from Ferenc Deak in middle position as well as Nikita Kuznetcov, who was in the small blind, and action went three ways to a flop of {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Kuznetcov checked to Zyrin, who put out a T5,000 chip and announced a continuation-bet of 3,500. Deak called.

Action was then back on Kuznetcov and he put in a check-raise to 14,000. Zyrin sent his cards to the muck and Deak followed suit shortly thereafter.

Hvam Wins From Cygan

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

In a three-bet pot between Lukasz Cygan (under the gun) and Morten Hvam (under the gun +1), it was the latter that bet 6,500 on an {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop. Cygan check-raised to 14,000 and Hvam called. Both the {j-Clubs} turn and {2-Clubs} were rapidly checked by both players.

Cygan showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} but Hvam tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for the second nuts to win it with ease, which prompted a few remarks from the table.

Tsai Among First to Depart; Holodiuk Jams Into Warris

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Ting Yi Tsai was among the first players to head to the rail and two tables over more action was provided.

Markus Durnegger defended out of the big blind against a raise to 3,200 by Giuseppe Carbone and check-folded the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop when facing a bet of 4,000.

Asif Warris also defended and check-called a bet on the {k-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop when facing Serhii Holodiuk. Warris checked the {a-Hearts} turn and reluctantly folded the {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} face up when Holodiuk had moved in for 24,600.

Macnamara Doubles Right Away

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Fionn Macnamara
Fionn Macnamara

Mihai Manole was all in from the hijack for his last 20,100 and Fionn Macnamara was all in from the cutoff with less. Macnamara had 17,000 in front of him and they opened up after the others folded and Macnamara was at risk with {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} against the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Manole.

The board ran out {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Macnamara managed to win the flip.

Manole was left with just two big blinds and the original platinum pass winner has some work to do.

Gulseven Gets Branco on First Hand

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Erdal Gulseven was in the cutoff and opened to 3,500. He was three-bet all in by Carlos Branco in the small blind and asked for a count, which was totaled to be 17,600, and then thought for a few moments before making the call.

Carlos Branco: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Erdal Gulseven: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Branco went from being in great shape for a double to being on his way out as the flop {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} left him drawing dead. The turn {7-Spades} and river {3-Clubs} completed the runout and the pot was shipped Gulseven's way.

Tournament Room
Tournament Room

Both of the starting days of the €5,300 Main Event are wrapped up at the European Poker Tour Prague and Day 1a and 1b managed to get a combined 1,136 entries. Registration is still open for those who haven't fired two bullets yet until noon local time when cards will be in the air for Day 2. At least 395 players are returning for Day 2 of the Main Event.

Players that register before the start of Day 2 will receive a fresh stack of 30,000 chips which will be worth a little under 20 big blinds. They will have a lot of work cut out for them if they want to get close to start of day chip leader Pierre Calamusa. Calamusa managed to bag a very impressive 457,000 on Day 1a of the tournament. Bart Lybaert ended as Day 1b chip leader after finishing the day with 333,400.

Others that will try to run up a stack on Day 2 of the Main Event include PokerStars Ambassador Kalidou Sow (79,000). Sow is the only player left in the field that is repping the Red Spade and he has a stack of about 50 big blinds to start the day as they will start in level 11 with blinds at 800/1,600 and with a 1,600 big blind ante.

Others that made it through with a stack of over 100 big blinds include Gab Yong Kim with 220,800, Steve O'Dwyer (206,400), Yake Wu (197,200), Bryn Kenney (180,700), and Dario Sammartino (168,000). They will all play five 90-minute levels today with a break after every level. There will be a 20-minute break after all levels except for after level 14. That break will be 30 minutes long.
