With three starting flights in the books, the field for the €1,100 French National Championship at the 2019 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour has been set. A total of 1,425 entries were made (897 unique, 528 reentries), with 214 of them finding a bag at the end of their respective flights.
Each of the Day 1s played down until the bubble had burst, meaning everyone left in the field will walk away with a Monegasque flag added to their Hendon Mob pages. The official prize pool and payouts will be announced shortly after the start.
On top is none other than German juggernaut Ole Schemion, who bagged the biggest stack of them all on Day 1b. Schemion is arguably the most successful player in EPT Monte Carlo history, with five outright wins including the 2016 Super High Roller title. Schemion will return with 782,000 in chips, or 156 big blinds. Josep Maria Galindo Lopez (770,000) and Sam Higgs (631,000) round out the top three.
PokerStars ambassador and PSPC champ Ramon Collilas bagged the chip lead on Day 1c and returns as sixth overall (606,000). Collilas' flight ran deep into the night yesterday, and it remains to be seen how he and the other survivors will act on little sleep as play already resumes at noon local time in Le Sporting at the Monte Carlo Bay Casino & Hotel. Blinds will resume in level 16 (2,500/5,000), as that was the level that saw play end of Day 1a. Levels will be 60 minutes throughout the remainder of the tournament and play will continue until the end of level 26, which is around 00:30 local time.
PokerNews will be on the floor as the French National Championship plays down to the final table, so be sure to check back regularly for all live updates from the 2019 EPT Monte Carlo.
