Danielle Summer was certain. She would be back in Barcelona in 2020. She just knew it.

“I totally believed that I was going to win the €10,000, and the only way I could get here was by believing I was going to do it,” Summer said. “In all the pre-interviews, I said to everyone I’m definitely coming back next year. And everyone’s looked at me thinking, ‘Is she mad?’”

More likely, they figured she was the type of player who was determined to do her best when it came to achieving her goal. In this case, to chase her dream and win €10,000.

“It was a bit strange,” she said, admitting to some nerves at the start before getting comfortable at the table. “I thought I played the best I could play in that situation.”

Shorr Doubles Through Haxton

On the feature table, Shannon Shorr raised to 250,000 from the cutoff with , leaving himself behind with 10,000 and got no action.

The hand after, he did it again from the hijack with raising to 400,000 this time and keeping 10,000 behind. He got no action this time either.

Two hands later, he raised to 500,000 from under the gun, leaving 60,000 behind. Isaac Haxton was up next to act and then decided to shove for 835,000. Simon Brandstrom found in the hijack and asked for a count. Brandstrom contemplated for a bit and then decided to let the nines go. The rest of the table quickly folded and Shorr called for 560,000 in total after tanking for a bit.

EPT Barcelona: Hot summer for Ben “Fabaz” Farrell

If you’re unfamiliar with the expression “no carbs before Marbs” — and if you’re not from the UK, chances are you will be — it refers to getting your body in shape before you go on your summer vacation (to Marbella, in this case), so you can strut the beach with confidence.

With so much poker action, summer also happens to be the time that poker players need to work on their games and get them into “beach strutting” shape. The season kicks off with the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) as a warm-up, then moves on through the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and a few more stops around the world, before coming to an end here at the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona.

In this analogy, Ben Farrell is like the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson of poker. There aren’t many players who have had their games in as good a shape as he has over the past few months.

First Farrell made the final table of a $3,000 Shootout event at the WSOP, finishing in sixth for just under $40K. He followed that up with his first major live victory in the $565 WPT500 at the Aria for a $155K score. A couple of weeks later he took down the $1,700 GOLIATH Las Vegas Main Event for $162K. And a couple of weeks after that he finished sixth in the $5,250 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event in Florida for $139K more.

The followed on the turn and Ivarsson led for 600,000. Torre used one time bank before moving all in and that sent Ivarsson into the think tank. He asked for a count, and once the all in was deemed to be for 2,480,000, he used one time bank himself before opting to fold.
